I miss being younger and just not giving a **** about the health issues of smoking. But my nicotine addiction is being taken care of well enough with e-cigs, and if they get banned Id be on the gum which Im quite fond of.
I am sitting here in El Paso Texas. I fly for a living, and one of my favorite parts of going on trips were to get to the hotel, have a drink, have a few cigarettes, and relax after a long day.
Today I got to thinking.. Do I really miss the analogs??
I really enjoyed smoking. I liked the ritual of going outside on a nice night for a smoke. I enjoyed that first cigarette in the morning. I loved the smell of a freshly lit cigarette.
What I did not enjoy was having to FIT smoking in during the day. I did not like having to sneak one in between flights. Having to go through security at the airport many extra times just because I had to go outside.
Getting crazy by the end of a long flight, because it had been 6 hours since my last cigarette.
Not liking the smell of smoking rooms, having to go outside the hotel in the freezing winters just to get my nicotine.
I hated smelling of smoke. My clothes. My hands. My breath.
I know that everyone on this board has different lifestyles and different reasons for switching to e cigs. But what was your experience?
What do you miss? What do you not miss? Do you miss the analogs?
I realize now that I don't. Life is much simpler now. I feel great. I don't smell like an ash tray. I can still enjoy sitting outside with my e cig and enjoy life.
Tell me what you think?
I hate hassling with these damn e-cigs. Even if it's fun sometimes lol. When I smoked it was easy...grab my pack and lighter and off I go. Now it's - Grab my case, make sure e-liquid is there, make sure extra battery & atomizer is there, grab an extra cart too! But wait the vape from USB is better. Grab USB and battery pack. Stand there contemplating which one to bring. F**k it, bring both...cuz ya never know.
I don't miss analogs. I don't miss the taste, the smell, the coughing, the tightness in my chest, etc. I miss the convenience. That's all.
I got a good whiff of the trace smoke and it reminded me of a casino. Now I want to go gamble.![]()
Yep, I miss cigs as timers too, Devon! Much of my career as a journalist, I did photography with Nikon F cameras, fixed with a wide assortment of lenses I owned. Some of my work involved taking photographs at night -- time exposures -- of businesses, industries, churches or cityscapes.
Photographers always want to know the shutter speed and f-stop of exposures, so for contests I'd write "f22 for 1 cigarette." That was it. With the camera on a tripod and the subject framed, set the f-stop to 22 and light up a cigarette. Relax. Enjoy. When the cigarette is finished, so is the timed exposure. Close the shutter and go enter a contest with the picture.
I assume that the subject did not have a pulse...
When the subject had a pulse, she was usually in a bikini and I dangled a cig from my lips as I worked.
