I think that may be my next endeavor. Rebuilding coils seems to be a good route for cost and performance.

I spent about $70 on 100' Kanthal, 10' Ekowool (it was only a couple of bucks, and I doubt I will use it now), new tweezers, butane torch, ohm meter and I have some blunted syringes (25 for $7.99, 18ga) on the way still. I think that was all of it. Right now I am not even using the best option for wrapping the coils, and they are already tons better than the stock single and dual coils I've been using. Oh, and about 3 bucks for a bag of cotton balls. Turns out the only cotton I had hanging around was Qtips and cotton pads that I use for cleaning up thermal paste when I remount by CPU coolers.

Do it. It is fun to do (if you like to tinker) and when the results are even halfway there they are better than where you are starting from.

Been vaping since last August. Not saving much money if anything. But sure am having fun. Some frustrations along the way trying to get things to run properly sometimes. I often wonder how people do vaping that are not mechanically inclined. Seems there is not enough hours in a day to keep mine running smoothly and a good vape all day and everyday. Health and breathing has become better, so for that is priceless.

Wife and kids love vaping. They think it is free!

I'm kinda in the same boat! I'm fairly mechanically inclined (at least, I love to fiddle with things) but there are just so many things to understand. It's a steep learning curve, I think.

Need general plumbing knowledge even. Gotta stop the floods. I can not stand gurgling. LOL

I'm learning more about gurgling every day with my cheap iClears! I'm definitely getting some Protanks and/or Nautiluses, I just need to find a good sale or coupon code.

I've actually had better luck with iclears over the protanks especially with gurgling

Really?? You're the second person I've seen say that, but all the reviews of the Protanks (especially with the airflow ring) say otherwise.

Like some others have said, in a sense, yes I am. Because I am no longer WASTING money on cigarettes, which were deadly, but instead SPENDING that money on a hobby that I enjoy.

At the same time, I'm not really saving a ton of money due to the fact that I didn't smoke as much as some people here did before. If I were smoking like a pack a day, I could understand how that would work, but I smoked maybe a pack a week if that.

If I count in all the quarters I had to pump into the vacuum cleaner at the gas station to get the ashes off the floorboards and seats in my car, air freshener, expensive perfume that lasted, gum, clothes that had to be replaced because of burns, ashtrays, packs of cigarettes I had to break down and buy from tavern vending machines, the trips to the E.R. or doctors' offices for bronchitis and sinus infections, then yes, I saved a ton!

Sent from my bird in a moist little package :p
