I've got a couple of different coils set up with 1.5mm and 2mm "flavor" wicks. Both seem to be working quite well with 80/20 and 60/40 juices. On both, I've experienced no leakers, dry hits, burned hits or gurgles. I also have both set up with flipped coil seals. YMMV.

Yes, I am referring to the two loose wicks that you can easily remove. I do not know how much of a difference these wicks make, however, when I removed them from my heads, I neither noticed an improvement or a decrease in quality of the unit. They did however, improve the tight draw and muted taste in some of my coils. I suppose more good has come out of it, as nothing bad has happened as a result of this change. Of course, you can always replace the wicks and flip the silicone seal cup back to whichever way works better for you.

I would like to know of a good replacement for the wicks as well... just to see if it makes a big difference.

I personally removed both, but you can try removing one at a time and see if that makes a difference for you. Exposing the coil is a good way to clean it though!

The one thing I yet have to master, and I've tried many times, is dripping. When I think I have it licked, I start getting nasty tastes or incessant flooding. Reviewers on youtube make it look easy ;)

Dripping. I tried and tried. Never got more than an occasional good hit.

If the Boge LR cartos hadn't turned to crap, I'd still be using them. They were the closest to perfect I'd found.

True. Boges *and* Resurrectors were once a phenomenal vape. They both turned to crap.

There is another trick I learned with the T3 that does seem to help with dry hits. If the base is new or just cleaned, I remove the post and put a drop of liquid directly on the coil/wicks. This primes it and reduces the wait time. Works for me anyway.

Thanks, just what I needed to know :)

It will work with a 510 to ego adapter but the e-power threads will be visible. You could cut a e-power cone to use to cover the threads. I don't think they make any thread covers for the e-power that I know of.

I have replaced the original silica wicks with cotton thread. Makes a world of difference. You cannot dry burn them though and they dont last as long, but have excellent flavor.

How do get cotton thread thick enough to be wicks.

J.R.

I use a thread starter used for threading needles(bought a 3pack for like $2 at micheals). Slide it through the coil. Cut 3 small pcs of thread about an inch or so. Slide the thread through the thread starter half the length and gently pull it through the coil. Each pc of thread bends in half to make 2 tiny wicks once pulled through. So 3 pcs. make 6 wicks. Once its through cut the ends to size. That was with #10 size thread. It all depends on your coil size how many wicks your going to need.

I've seen other people talk about SS mesh. I don't understand how SS can absorb liquid, and also why doesn't it short out the coil.

J.R.

It doesnt short because its oxidized(burning it with a flame). It wicks, the finer the mesh the better it wicks. It is supposed to last a very long time compared to cotton or silica and give excellent flavor. Its expensive and not easy to do. That is why I have stuck with cotton. Plus I'm just learning all this stuff

Do you also use thread to replace the flavor wicks?

I bought #10 and #3 size. I started with the #10 its smaller. I now using the #3 to see if I notice any change. Its thicker and I only need 3 total wicks to fill my coil. Kinda hard to do as you get 2 wicks when you pull one pc. through. I pull one through cut the end and pull one back out of the coil(so there is one wick in there) then slide the needle threader back through the coil again with the one wick and pull another pc through to make a total of three wicks.

I have had better luck and SS has been easier to me than messing with cotton. As soon as I tried cotton, I burned it.

Hi there lbox, I put a couple of drops of liquid on the coil/wicks before I put the flavor wicks on and then put a drop or two on them and then put the post on. Never get a burnt hit!
