Well, pbusardo did an update on his site today where it sounds like the issues with the T3's may be coming from Kanger itself.
Basically he tossed up the possibility that to keep up with demand, Kanger might be outsourcing T3 production to other companies and those outsourcings aren't keeping up on the quality control

Nevertheless the problems I had were with heads made in october/november. This last batch worked great. No gurgling, no bad contacts, heads screw all the way down.

Cleaning a T3 is very simple;

  • Just rinse out the tank with water. If you've used some potent juice, also rinse with PGA or Vodka to clear any lingering taste.
  • For the head, if you're going to use it with the same juice, just rinse with water. Set the faucet to a thin stream and aim for the opening in the air tube. If you're going to change juice set the head in a small tumbler of PGA or Vodka for 15 - 30 minutes to flush out the old flavor.
  • To dry burn, remove the small silicone cap then gently wiggle the air tube off of the main body of the head. Be careful not to lose the loose flavor wicks if you still use them.
  • Remove the flavor wicks and you can easily see the coil.
  • Do the dry burn; 5 seconds on, 15 - 30 seconds off to cool.
  • After the coil glows orange/red over its entire length thoroughly rinse again with water to get rid of the ash or you will have a nasty taste for about 1/4 the tank.
  • Replace the flavor wicks (if you want to) or replace them with cotton (as some have done), replace the air tube being sure to put it on straight, fill the tank, reassemble, and vape.
It actually takes longer to read this than it does to do it.

Good luck.

As for cotton wicks... I'm wondering, the embroidery kind works? Thanks!

I seem to have problems following. More vapor compared to what? 2.4 ohm at 4 volts, 2.4 ohm at 4.6 volts (= same wattage), or 1.8 ohms at 4 volts on a battery?

No VW here yet :( only VV... The 2.4 ohm head needs 4.2v to make the same vapor as the 1.8 ohm... It also depends on the liquid. The darker it is, the higher voltage it needs.

I've not made any cotton wicks myself but I would suspect anything that's "pure" cotton and not dyed a color should work. Seems to me most people making cotton wicks use some sort of pad or cotton ball then pull and twist their own to get the diameter they want, usually in the 2 - 3 mm range.

Is anyone having issues with consistency from their T3 purchases?

The first one I got, the head has two air holes and the tank has non-italic writing on the numbers. This T3 has been amazing, but it's now 4 months old.

I've purchased 4 subsequent T3's and all four have had 3 air holes with italic writing on the tube and none of them really work for me. The draw is so airy that I just have next to no use for them, and i'm really hesitant to order a replacement head at this point without knowing what i'm getting myself into.

Any advice?

Plug one or two of the holes.

Yes, because that will give roughly the same wattage of power to the atomizer. The ohms (or the voltages) do not alone determine the amount of vapor, the overall wattage does. If you keep the same voltage, surely the vapor will be worse at 2.4 ohms because the wattage is lower.

Wattage = Voltage^2/Resistance

I threw 3 away and still have 3 unopened. Garbage. I guess I'll give them as gag gifts.

I just got 3 T3's from Gotvapes (not blaming them, not their fault), which are apparently the newer ones with the 3 holes in the base, and first drag...burnt plastic taste. I have two others unopened that I may try to return. I was aware of the issues that were reported with these newer ones, I guess I was just hoping I would get lucky. Not so much :(

StealthyTX not saying this will help and you already might of done this (or you might not want to). I found that I always have to clean the T3's before use. IMO they just have a funky off taste from the factory. I just put them in some distilled water and boil them for a short bit. Also depending on the pg/vg ratio you are using you might need to remove one of the flavor wicks that sit above the coil for better wicking. I personally have trimmed my little rubber gasket a bit on both sides so it doesn't pinch the wick at all and I leave both flavor wicks in now using a 70pg 30vg blend. I have had good success doing this. Like I said you might already know or tried some of these options but figured I would throw it out there.

EVERY SINGLE KANGER THAT I WASHED PRIOR TO USE NEVER HAD BURNT TASTE. Only one T2 head did, and the taste went away after leaving it overnight in alcohol. Newbies don't research, they just go and vape, and then swear off as "not working"

I wouldn't boil or recommend boiling metal objects in the microwave oven.

Ok...I'll remove the part about the microwave. I only put it in for one minute to help get rid of the factory crap etc...Never had an issue and has always worked for me, but I see where your coming from.

As far as I know metal in the microwave is only truly dangerous when there's a chance of arcing. It isn't even unusual for some microwaveable meals to have a bit of metal in them to help with heat distribution
So being submerged in water would probably dissipate any charge buildup, but even then, I wouldn't make a habit of it

Thanks for the input! Like I said I was only doing it for a short min etc...but I will take the advice and stop doing it. I didn't even think of arcing etc since I was doing it for such a short time. Once again thanks for the input folks! Live and learn....
