Anyone want to help another newb?!

Hello, ladies and 'gents! I've been lurking these forums on and off for awhile now. I made one post several months back, but I've learned a bit more since then, but still a lot of confusion! There's TONS of information here. I've been delaying purchasing an e-cig for several months now due to so many options and wanting to be a smart consumer. I'm sick of waiting, though! I hate smoking analogs and I want to kick those to the curb A.S.A.P.

So, I'm 22 now and I've regretfully been smoking since the age of 14, but a much heavier smoker the last few years. Hovering at or maybe slightly above a pack per day? So, there ARE a few things that I have decided I would prefer while venturing into the realm of the e-cig. Firstly, I would like refill my carts/cartomizers (whichever I end up getting) to save a bit extra. I'll probably buy the e-juice from V4L since they seem to have a pretty good selection it would seem; the strawberry is mouth-watering and I've yet to even try it. Ideally, I would like an e-cig that produces a lot of vapor, even though from my current understanding there can be other variables that play into the amount of vapor (such as the voltage). I'm unsure of a 3 piece or 2 piece, but leaning toward a 3. From how I see it, the consensus is that they are easier to refill, they typically last longer and they give a better taste from what some say. A cartomizer just seems to be generally the better choice. But if you disagree, please let me know! Also, a total newb question - The 510 many people reference to, is this brand specific, such as N Joye...or is it more of a general e-cig platform? Sorry for a bunch of rambling, and I understand experiences differ, but if you guys could steer me in a specific direction to give me no more reason to procrastinate it would be awesome! Thank you for any input you may give. Glad to be back here, again! :)

Just some clarification, because I'm unsure if you've made a typo or confused some terms (easy to do, there's a lot to learn!).

A cartomizer would be used on a 2-piece - just a cartomizer and a battery. A 3-piece has a cart, atomizer, and battery. Atomizer do last longer than cartomizers generally, but which someone prefers is personal preference.

If you want a 2-piece with cartomizers, try the Kr808D-1 (which is what Vapor4Life sells, branded as the Vapor King).

The 510 is a 3-piece, usually just called the 510. The original maker is Joye, so a Joye 510 is the original. There are some brand names out there for the 510 (I know AltSmoke calls it the Yeti).

But if you're considering the 510, also consider the eGo. The eGo is just a bigger battery for the 510 atomizers. It's not that big - maybe the size of a small cigar. But the battery life of the 510 is its one downfall, so an eGo fixes that.

I know there's a lot of info to work through, but you're making the smart choice in making sure you understand it before you buy. Most people who buy something without researching wind up being disappointed. Some of the bad models and companies can have very convincing advertising.

+1 on the wise MistressNomands recommendation of a Joye eGo

I started out with a super mini and it definitely did NOT produce enough vapor to satisfy me. After reading up a bit on ECF I decided to go with the eGo and was more than thrilled with the performance. It produces nice clouds of vapor, taste is real good, and its a high quality product. Personally I use a 3 piece setup and have had some pretty good luck (knock wood) with the life i've been getting from atomizers. Topping off cartridges all the time is admittedly a bit of a pain but its worth it to me to not be smoking. If you really get tired of topping off you can always look at the bottle fed "bottom feeder" mods like the WetBox.

Yep! I do understand that an atomizer is a 3 piece set, while the cartomizer is a 2 piece. I was unsure of what V4L was selling branded as the Vapor King. So, thank you for that! At this point that is the one i'm leaning towards. The manual start-up kit that includes a car charger, a pcc, av charger and a usb charger. I figure this way I'll never be in a situation where I can't get my fix :). I'm still curious, though. What advantages, if any, do the atomizers have? Bahh, all this thinking is making me go for my Marlboro reds!

+2 on the wise MistressNomands recommendation of a Joye eGo

I sometime consider my first day with the eGo as my first day of
vaping, the difference was that striking. I like carts, (personal choice)
when out and about. Topping off gives me a chance to change flavors.
When I'm home, dripping is my preference, but you have time to work
your way into that. Just be sure to buy a bunch of sample sizes of
juice, the different flavor experiments make it fun to quit!

Another eGo vote here. The set w/ 2 batteries so you always have a back up available is my recommendation. Wish I would have purchased my eGo first instead of the smaller batteries (510's). Would have saved myself a bunch of money :) Maybe you can order everything from the same supplier and save some money on shipping???

Also recommend you put together a list of supplies you will need / want.
Atty's / Cartomizers / Juices
Have you thought about what mg of nicotine will work best for you?

You might consider ordering a couple small sizes or even samples of juices instead of investing in one large bottle. It may get good reviews and may sound yummy, but your taste buds have the final decision as to good or yucky taste. You can always order larger sizes when you figure out what your taste buds like. Also, be prepared for your taste buds to change. What tastes good today, may taste nasty in two weeks. Many of us here have experienced a change in taste and juice preferences once we started vaping.

Happy Vaping - Wishing you ALL the best!
Paula

PS - Just a note:
The eGo is compatible with 510 accessories & equipment.

I have been vaping on and off for 3 years. I just purchased an eGO and a Prodigy 3. The eGo would be a great place for you to start. You can drip or use a cart. It comes with 2 e-cigs and produces good vapor! The prodigy 3 is Fabulous if your expecting a very heavy cloud of smoke. Its a great high voltage, strong vapor machine. But probably not a good place to start. Maybe for your next e-cig. I wish it had been around when I first started vaping. But since your new, you should probably start with something like the eGO! Its a great product at a great price!
Happy Vaping and get ready to say goodbye to those regular cigs. Hope this helps!!

You won't know if you prefer atties or cartos until you try them. That doesn't present a big problem because both the KR808 and the 510/ego support atties and cartos. Whichever model you decide on, get both. The KR comes with cartos standard. Get a 901 atty along with that model. Most 510/ego kits come with atties. Add some 510 cartos if you order one of those. Get a drip tip no matter which one you decide on.

Thank you guys for your input. I was just watching some reviews of the Titan 510. Seems pretty nice to me. I understand there's a bit less battery than you get with the eGo, but it's also slimmer. I'll just pick up a PCC and maybe a third battery if I go with the Titan. I'll probably do what some of you suggested and try atleast a couple sample packs of the juice.

I started with a Titan about 17 months ago.
It is a 510 model, and it worked for me.

Eventually, I got tired of charging batteries, so I got a 510 Chuck.
Eventually, I got tired of messing with cartridges, so I started dripping.

Cartomizers are making big advances in technology, but they still don't float my boat yet.
But the bottom line is to just get something, and learn from that and move on from there if you aren't satisfied.

You really need to find out what vaping is all about, what you like and don't like, before you can find what will work for you.

If you feel you can tolerate something the size of a small cigar, go with the Ego/Tornado/Riva models.
If you think you need to start with something that is smaller, get any 510 model and just go with the flow.
:)
