Yeah, that's called "alcoholism".

I'm drinking right now so I'm not throwing stones. Wife and I are hanging out in the living room and we're having a few drinks (she drinks a glass or two of wine a few nights a week at most). I probably drink more then I should. By some standards I'm a functional alcoholic. By other standards I just like beer. I don't get trashed every night, but have a beer or two most nights and polish off a 6 pack or more a few times a week.

Anyways, drinking when you first wake up is a problem. But you'll notice addictions go hand in hand and since you changed your smoking habit it would be a good time to evaluate your drinking habit and maybe modify it to be a little more healthy.

/cheers :)
I will agree on one thing I don't know anybody with just one addiction. But that may just be me. LOL

One thing I can say with certainty is that when I was smoking, every time I lit up a cigarette it felt like a small failure. Like it was a constant reminder of my lack of willpower. Each cigarette was a small erosion of my confidence in my ability to do other things.

So, for what it's worth, I think that's one thing vaping can provide - feeling like we're a bit more in control of things.

I was just wondering. I did just quit my job due to stress/unhappiness and told myself I wouldn't buy beer til I found a new one and got paid, but I don't feel like that would work on its own. I've felt less of an urge to drink (I normally have a beer first thing in the morning/in the shower) has anyone else had a similar experience? I have been vaping constantly with 24mg of nicotine.

I am certainly no stranger to alcohol, but that is a new one for me. In all my years, I have never scrubbed up in my morning shower while sipping on a beer. Now pouring a beer on my Frosted Flakes, thats a different story... ;-) I do remember drinking a martini while soaking in a tub though. I must say that smoking or vaping has not decreased my desire to drink. However, drinking has (on occasion...;-) greatly increased my desire to smoke or vape.

My friend....seek some help if you feel the need to drink in the morning....Ive had to fire more than my fair share of emplyees that I have smelled alcohol on... and trust me....it is not something I like to do....in fact I always call them in my office....tell them I have smelled booze on them and that the are required to now go in for a alcohol and drug screening, but if they fess up to a problem before I send them...I will offer them rehab.....only one employee ever took me up on rehab....the rest took there chances and failed the test and lost there jobs.

Seek help.....addictions can destroy your life and those of the people around you that love you.

I wish you blessings and peace

I am definitely a functional alcoholic but I dislike coffee. If I wanted a rush and a dry mouth I probably would have tried harder stuff. I work in restaurants and only drink coffee if it is free. I get a short burst of energy and then come down with a mopy, dry mouth when I'm coming down. Not for me. A beer in the morning may be scary to some but it has started alot of days for me. I would rather have one in the shower and go to work then have 4 cups of coffee and want a 5th to keep me high. Appreciate the input.

I'm pretty sure that it varies depending on the person. I admit I do enjoy a drink...or two...or three. When I was younger I was a big time party girl. As I got older I pretty much abandoned the "hard" liquor (except for a little eggnog w/ Southern Comfort at Christmastime) and only drank a little beer sometimes and wine (nearly every day). Eventually I stopped with the beer...but the wine continued. Some might say I drank too much wine...4 or 5 wine glasses a night. They'd probably be right.

Anyway...since I started vaping a year ago my wine consumption has dropped dramatically. It was kind of gradual..but it did happen. Now I MAY have a little on the weekends, and when I do it's 1 or 2 small glasses...filled with ice and I add a half glass of water before adding any wine. Basically my wine is water lightly flavored with wine now. Colored water, really. I just don't care about drinking anymore. Vaping makes me happy. Wine sometimes did...but sometimes just complicated things. Vaping never complicates things. I have the teensy bit now on weekends mostly just to be sociable with hubby while we watch a movie or sometihng.

It's kind of cool. I kicked cigarettes...and now my drinking is falling by the wayside, too! AND I'm not craving munchies and sweets anymore, either!!

vaping or not...never had a drinking problem, I drink just enough

I never had any problem drinking either, it came quite naturally. I drank ... got drunk ... no problem

But, would you believe that I even got fired from a company that I owned!?! No problem at all.

Having a drink before even getting dressed in the morning sure rings some warning bells ......... just sayin'
Maybe that's because I remember doing it!

Whether you love that morning beer or not, I'm sure that goes against your companies policy having consumed alcohol no more than 1-2 hours before being on the clock? Whether you wanna justify it or not, you're asking for trouble in the long run. Swallow an egg or something in the morning. You're in the routine of having a beer in the morning, and like smoking cigs, this too you should seriously consider changing..

I do work nights, well, 12 hours a day, so nights/days, hell I don't even know anymore but I have not found an urge to not have a beer or 2 because I quit smoking cigarettes. I drink moderately to heavy at times, but vaping has never played a part in it. Hard for me to comment though because I work until 4 a.m every day and I go in at 3:30 pm so really my days and hours are so weird its just a joy to be able to sit or even have a beer, but when I do, I do it right! Anyway, nope vaping has not affected my drinking one bit, for the good or the bad.

By the way, why is drinking in the morning worse than drinking at night? I don't get it. A drinks a drinks a drink..........morning, evening, night, it all pisses out the same. Who knows the schedule of the OP, Would it be better if he worked a night job 11-7 and had a few beers when he got off work? I dunno, just seems to me, the whole "beer in the shower" comment was taken a bit far, hell, he could shower at 8 pm for all anyone knows, and even if he doesn't, well........who am I to judge.

Actually, he said he drank it in the morning, before going to work. Just thought I'd clear that up. :)

I hope I'm not stepping on your toes, but I had friend that died of alcoholism. If you drink first thing in the morning, maybe you should consider giving it up! He had Sclerosis of the liver, but died of Pancreatic cancer. It wasn't pretty.
