I have a two year old who has not slept all night in 6 weeks. I took her to my ped yesterday to make sure there was nothing physically wrong. Keep in mind she used to be a great sleeper until I had surgery And my helpers messed up her schedule. Anyway this is what he suggested 1 mg of melatonin, it comes in liquid or pill, I put it in a little caf and sugar free soda half hour before Bed for 3 nights, keep old bedtime And routine and do the graduated extinction method. Add 5 minutes of crying time Everytime you go in and check on them, he said to let her cry up to 2 hours straight if thats what it takes. Just put her back in bed and leave room. Then he said if that doesn't work within two weeks he is putting her in a sleep clinic. No napping over 2 hours. I did this last night and it went ok. She didn't keep me up until 5 am like she has been. So that's one victory. Oh and if you have a tv in the room take it out! It is really hard, and me and my husband had a 4 am fight about it, but I won because I am the one who stays up all night. I will keep you posted.
