Ok it's not working again. I read that link about the connections but I still don't understand what I'm supposed to be digging for in my atomizer. I stick the paper clip into that hole and who knows what I'll find. So far, nothing to grab onto or push/lead out. Really don't know what's going on there.

The 510-510 (sealed) connection adapter looks like a good idea, assuming the problem is from the liquids I'm leaking into the connection area. Right now I have the components sitting in front of the fan. I'm trying to dry them out to make sure that the problem is really the juice getting in there.

So tired of these little issues. Can't wait til they're all resolved for my pv.

Ok, I've figured out that the problem is definitely not the juice. The problem is that the connection just isn't happening. The center post of the atomizer just isn't hitting the center post of the battery.

I tested my lavatube with some blu cartridges I had lying around, and they also can't hit the centerpost of the lavatube. But, if I stick them on my ego, they hit the centerpost every time and make a connection.

Now, I'm wondering if the 510-510 connection will even hit the lavatubes centerpost.

The 510-510 isn't for making a better connection, it's simply to facilitate the use of the drip shield. It's sealed so that juice won't run through the hole. That said, it sounds like you need to pull the center post up on your LT. I use a bent paper clip. I wedge it a little bit between the post and the threads and pull it up, gently. You don't need to go very far, maybe a millimeter. I generally do one side and then the other. Once you get the hang of it, it's a 10 second operation.

Also, it's still possible that your LT is just broken.

This worked immediately ... sort of. I have to pull it up right to a sweet spot and depending on how far I screw my atty in, I might or might not hit that sweet spot and make a connection. This is problematic imo - definitely not consistently working or consistently not working.

Now my question is, is this a common occurance in PV's? I don't want to have to worry about the center post falling down to far all the time. If, for instance, the centerpost fell so far down that I couldn't pull it back up, or if it just fell down a little bit every day then how would I go about getting that piece replaced altogether?

Why would it sink down in the first place? I figured that since this was a battery that the top piece would be a solid connection and not movable with a paper clip.

find that sweet spot with a 510 shorty extender. They tend to have a higher height on the upper center post and a thicker rubber seal so they don't sink as easily. If you do have to keep adjusting at least you run much less of a risk of damaging your LT. The center post on a VERY high percentage of devices rely on a rubber ring to keep that center post up. This is a problem with nearly every ecig (510,808,306...)

I've decided to just return the vtube to apollocigs and get a new one. I don't feel like dealing with this minor nonsense very often. I'm going to order a 510 to 510 connector as well so that when my new vtube comes in, I'll screw that on so I wont even have to mess with the batteries centerpost ever.

Apollocigs customer service was very good. They're going to mail my exchange out today with priority mail. Hopefully everything works out. I did consider just returning the whole kit, since I still have that darn disposable, but I decided that this setup is cheaper than the alternatives that I'd be interested in .. cheaper by a longshot.

Keep in mind that atty's and cartomizers are mass produced with minimal QC. I have seen cartomizers with an extruding post and with 1/8" countersunk posts all in the same box of 5. Hopefully an extender with a good rubber seal will keep your new tube from needing adjusting. I would recommend the sealed one from GotVapes. Very short and does the trick nicely.

So, I wanted to ask, was their policy to send you a new tube and then you send the old one back after receiving your new one?

I'm not sure what their policy is on exchanges, but I specifically asked if they could send me a tube today (this morning), as I was sending them back their original tube today, so that I could minimize my downtime. I got a tracking number hours after my request -the delay was because they had to wait for the post office to open up.

They did ask me to send the entire kit so they could troubleshoot with all of it. And I was told that they're also sending me an entirely new kit. So the exchange turned out to be for the entire kit, although that wasn't my original intention - but, that's fine with me.

Chat excerpt:

Me: Should I be sending back just the defective tube, or should I be sending back the entire kit with it?
Apollo: the entire kit would be great as we would like to double check the rest of the parts, we will ship you a new complete vtube set

But, the LavaTube/Vtube protects you from battery failure within the electronics of the device. (I have heard) Refer to the ECF safe-battery use thread so that you can recognize the tell-tale signs of battery failure before something unprotected blows up in your face. I believe the main points are: Do not overcharge. Do not buy a mod with no vent hole. Listen, watch, and feel for shots of air shooting out of the device. Drop the device immediately should you hear air escaping the battery compartment, and/or should you experience shots of air and/or flame exit the device. This should ensure safety, however, mistakes are made. ECF does not guarantee your face will not explode. Should your face explode, please refer to "The E-cig Bible v.G4-6.0revised" section 3-4, line 18, paragraph 3, where-in it explicitly states, and I quote, "Call the f---ing ambulance, you f---ing idiot." End quote.

What the crap does that mean? Apollo will show integrity when they protect the battery? What a lame answer! Hopefully we can get a better answer...perhaps someone who ordered from apollo can hit them in live chat to find out who makes that battery. (they look like sanyo batteries)

These came with mine :)
Torpedo VVV 2200mAh High Drain Replacement Battery
They seem to perform just fine and have decent life compared to my other 18650 mods.
mine should hopefully be coming tomorrow. btw for anyone scared about the batteries apollo includes - "Dear Customer,

I have just received word from the owner of Apollo Electronic Cigarettes that our batteries are protected integrally."

i cant wait for mine aaaahhh

I still use my 510 PCC on the go alot! Especially places like theme parks. Great for rainy days as well, if I short out a 510 batt with water its 8$ for a new one.

from my research the ones from apollo (from L-Rider) are actually sanyo batteries. No way to know for sure.

good to hear your loving it saltyshark, I think its a HUGE step up from those 510 batteries lol.

Here's an update:

I successfully exchanged the apollo tube that I had issues with. The 'new' one that they sent me though, ... this is not a new kit. It is painfully obvious that this tube has been used aggressively. There are scuff marks on the bottom cap, the lcd is recessed and has a cable hanging down in front of it. Even the 'free' disposable they included was already opened. Oh, and the charger they sent with this thing has a European connection on the end, so I can't even plug it up into the wall.

So, I am forced to attempt to send this thing back again. But this time, I'd like them to go ahead and send me a brand new one? I'm not sure if I can count on them. Right now I'm considering just returning the entire kit; I mean, I wont be using the disposable, their battery, their charger, their drip tip, or their atty anyway and the case it came with says eGo in really large shiny letters on the top of it. Maybe I should just order a lavatube (just the tube) from volcanocigs instead of doing this back-n-foth with apollo again.

Now, all that said. I have assembled and filled my new buzztank and popped on the rotating drip tip. This thing looks awesome and performs awesomely! I like it. But, this tube is still going back to where it came from one way or another.

Anyways, here's what it looks like.

tewb_mod.jpg

My preliminary plan so far is to do one of the following:

1) Buy a lavatube and return the apollo tube once the lavatube makes it here - no vaping downtime

2) Ask apollo to mail me a NEW kit, and upon receiving and inspecting the NEW kit, then I'll mail them their used kit back - no downtime

3) Buy a different mod.

But, yes, I am satisfied with the vaping performance on this beast. And I'm glad that my first carto punching was a success!

Another update:

I talked to the online rep at apollo's website about my troubles with the exchange that they shipped me. They said they'll ship me a 'new' kit and once I receive it, then I can mail back the old kit. I asked them if I could do this in order to minimize my vaping downtime.

I'd give their customer service an A++ so far; I can't remember the last time I've experienced this kind of customer service. Hopefully this time the kit is a win - this shipping stuff back and forth is starting to add up. Fingers crossed.
