We would probably benefit from unbiased testing and public announcements of the results. There's all kinds of reasons why the public is given one sided reports. There's the tobacco company profit loss, government revenue loss from reduced taxes and the big tobacco settlement that runs out in a few years, pharmaceutical profit losses from ineffective nic replacement products compared to ecigs, bias from those that hate anything that resembles a cigarette, and the competition between big tobacco and mom and pop shops who compete with convenience store ecigs made by BT.
