So I got my eGo twist in the mail today and I'm really impressed. I've only smoked one real cigarette since I've got this thing working, and when I was smoking that cigarette, I wished I would have been using my ego twist. Tonight I decided to show a good friend of mine what I had purchased via grimmgreens youtube video on the twist. She started laughing, literally. She had never seen an e-cig like this before (as most of the general public hasn't). She called it a douche stick, and said it looked like something a hipster would carry around.

I explained to her that I know that it's kind of weird. I thought it was weird the first time I saw one. But It's causing me to smoke 80-90% fewer cigarettes, so I'm going to continue to use it. She then started to see the point of it, and slightly changed her attitude. But she still thinks it's weird. How long do you think it'll be before these things become socially acceptable? Or will they ever? And I'm not talking about cig a likes. I'm talking about the stuff that works.

Like I said, I love this thing. I'm really proud of my purchase. But hearing this kind of thing from a friend makes me hesitant to use it in public. More specifically at work. I have absolutely no problem using it at home, or in the car, but if I pull this thing out in front of my co workers I feel that I'm gonna get slammed with negativity. And it's because these mini flashlight looking devices are largely unknown, and people don't understand what they are. I'm actually afraid to break it out in front of my dad. He thinks the only way to quit smoking is to quit cold turkey. He gave me crap when I was using the patch a few years ago. If I bust this thing out in front of him it'll just start a huge argument. It's just a deflating feeling. I know I'm doing something good for myself. I know the absolute best thing to do would be just to quit smoking/vaping altogether, but that's almost impossible for me. Or that's how I feel at least. I just wish people could have an open mind and be supportive.

I guess it would depend on how you presented it. Really, anything can be labeled as hipster and the the things that can't be, are hipster if liked ironically.

I suppose e-cigs could get the dreaded hipster label if used to condescendingly explain why analogs are so bad and so on so forth about it.

(I've been sometimes labled a hipster and really, I find that most of the time is just describes someone who put care into having a fashionable appearance and finding new and intersting things to do and talk about. Granted, anything can be taken too far.)
