Are IMR batteries really necessary with a regulated mod?

The local store here has the MVP, SVT and VTR and i took a look at them. I found the VTR bulky and heavy, and the SVT a little too phallic :) That and my buddy has a VTR and he told me about how the ring limits which atomizers you can use.

Like I said, I'm vaping to quit smoking, but i just want to get out of the ego format. The cheapest regulated mod I could find is a Vamo, but again, I don't like the tube much, so the coolfire 2 kind of just fits my niche. That, and I figure I'll get a green one and it'll take some neat pics with my 1911A1 and Vietnam era belt/holster :) I know you can get mech mods for dirty cheap, but I'm not a scientist and I use my hands and face every day :)

Better safe than sorry. Yeah you can use ICR batteries but why add the extra risk of fire/explosion that they bring? Yes they have longer life, but you can get the same longer life by using a mod that takes bigger batteries. There are 2900 mah 18650 IMR batteries out right now. Why not use them instead of ICR batteries?
