There really is no one that can answer that but yourself and really know other way to know but try and compare. What might taste right on spot to what you expected to another it tastes like crap, has no th and vapes badly. E-juice at the best ids highly subjective. Plus flavor can differ from PV and delivery device so what tastes great in one setup for someone can not even measure up if they change devices. (For example I have several juices that I only vape the higher v's and medium resistance.. any other combination makes it taste bad - to me)
In my personal opinion price has nothing and everything to do with good e-juice, like like the vendors name, the expertise of the mixologist and so on. I would say I get significantly better, made to order, freshly made e-juice from MBV for a great deal less then you can DIY (depending on the amounts you make) then some vendors who charge $15.00+ for the same amount. I should say that I can only say that for certain on a select number of flavors that I have compared apples to apples on.
I have also found that some expensive custom houses put out a great product - at least from what I can tell as there is often no way to test their 'specialty flavor' with another vendor as other vendors don't name their 'specialty' by the same name, they may have a comparable recipe but its often hard to tell.
I may just have too much faith but doubt if your paying $1 a ml for e-juice it would be junk - who would keep coming back and paying it. As with any e-juice at any cost, some people might not like a flavor but that is different then liking the brand or other juices by that maker.
On the cheaper end, I would take the time to know the vendor - are they just relabeling a mass produced generic e-juice possibly made months in the past or are they really making their own? And if buying from a mass producer where is it produced, in the USA? or China? or EU? Even mass producers can vary in quality of a product and cost is more tied to competition then it is to gularity level.
MBV is one case where 'get what you paid for' really does not hold true - for low price of $4.99 for 15ml, if you went by price you would probably stay away questioning the quality - and in MBV's case the quality is, in my opinion, as great as the vendor selling $15 for 15ml bottle.
I think the answer to your question is one thing that , at least for a short period of time, keeps your vaping costs us while you find the vendors you like and trust the most and the ones that hit your idea if a flavor spot on. I do have a few I use besides MBV because they do make flavors I have come to like that are not a flavor that MBV makes, but narrowing it down to which is good and/or great for the price takes a while and a bit of moeny.
