Before reading the whole exploding battery threads, I ordered:

A bundle of 2 x 18650 batteries + charger from ebay, now I am wondering if they will fit and if I should even try to use them (they re-listed them at $40 including shipping but I got the bundle for $7.90 including shipping).

I just got my Vamo and that batteries/charger bundle in the mail today, after reading the batteries threads, I ordered 2 AW IMR 18350 from sweet-vapes which are ready to go also.

I also have an XTAX MP1S on its way, I am just wondering whenever I should try those 18650 UltraFire, I read so much bad stuff about xxxFire type batteries, I have a digital multimeter, are there step I can take to make sure those batteries are good and not repackaged trash ?

Also I got Unprotected 18350 Li-ion battery (900mAh) from exhalevapors.com when I ordered my Vamo and wondering if they are trustworthy or not (Unprotected + Li-ion).

Thank you

I have the AW MIR already, but no charger yet (waiting on the XTAR MP1S)

Had a look at that charger online and it appears you'll need 4 spacers to charge 18350's in it.

If I was you I would go ahead and get a better charger as well.
Here's what I use....

Xtar WP2 II
(it comes with 2 spacers and needs them both to charge an 18350)

RTD Vapor sells extra Xtar spacers as well.

The charger (XTAR MP1S) comes with 4 spacers :) I got it so I could charge both 18650 and 18350 from my USB

you mean do not use any other than the AW IMR right ?

No, I mean those batteries you ordered from ebay are should not be used in any pv. The only batteries that should ever be used in a pv are either protected li-ions or the IMR. While those are li-ions they are not protected.

That was my opinion about it too (after reading the battery threads), so I'll just get some more AW IMR later.

I ordered a smart charger from BatteryJunction for all my batteries. I use IMR 18650 and Panasonic Protected 18650 in most of my devices where they fit. I also have four 18350 for backups and the charger works for all of them, no spacers. Only a slider that holds the battery in. It will detect what type of battery it is and charge it appropriately. Most importantly, it turns off when fully charged and keeps a "trickle charge" on it. I think I paid about $20 for it. Well worth it for peace of mind.

I just purchased got a Vamo too (next step up from my Ego Twists) and couldn't decide which charger to buy. I read good things about this charger from Provape and decided it was cheap enough to give it a try. I'm extremely happy with it so far. The bottom connectors are spring-loaded so you don't need spacers for smaller batteries. I ended up buying AW batteries from Provape too as I was already paying shipping on the charger.

the nitecore is one of the best chargers on the maret and around $25 for a 4 bay charger, you don't need spacers and no springs

http://www.amazon.com/Nitecore-I4-Intellicharger-Combination-Batteries/dp/B007P5T1S0

Funny how the charger is $24.95 but you only get free shipping at $25 lol That does look like a nice charger. It might become my step up if I decide to stay with the Vamo, so far even at 4watts on a 2.8 head, I get a burn taste (works fine on my old 510 manual bat).

Just find something else from them to buy that is super cheap so you get free shipping.

I've had to do that with car parts before. I'll just find something that costs a few dollars (when I'm close to the free shipping mark) since that's cheaper than paying $15-$20 for shipping.

Compared to the Xtar WP2-II, it has better sliders so no spacers needed and good end of charge cut off.
The only downside would be charge current is lower, so batteries will take longer to charge. (Really only an issue with 18650's)

[QUOTE=Stel88la

From what I read around Stel88la:

1. get some good AW IMR from an authorized AW dealer, I am not saying they are the safest (none are 100% safe) but they are the most used on ecf and that tells you that they are safer than many offbrand.
2. don't trust unknown sellers/brand, there are MANY fakes out there, many batteries are just rebranded from poor quality batteries.
3. the 3 brand of batteries I head good things about are AW IMR, Efest and Panasonic.

aw is not the end all be all that it is thrown around to be here. AW is just a guy who buys batteries, slaps his label on them and charges twice as much. AW 2000mah imrs are just panasonic cgr186460 with a red wrapper. personally i will and have bought the Panasonic branded ones. also, the vamo has built in protection, protected batteries are not necessary and may in fact inhibit performance. go with IMR style batteries for safety, they handle high current better and if they vent tend to do so less violently
