I love research and facts, yet I can't find any clear answers on vaping. Only half-a** news reports on e-cigs and some studies that show nothing on long term use and how they compare to other products.

Nobody seems to have a real scientific answer to what we are actually blowing out and if it can harm others. Heck they just came out with studies on third-hand smoke for regular cigs. What the F is third hand smoke! So where is first hand for an e-cig

In the eight years of e-cigs being established and smoked (vaped) there are still no real health pro's and cons. (besides for the obvious comments of "at least we are not smoking all the chemicals contained within analogs anymore". But by constantly inhaling the pg/vg are our kid going to have three balls or what?

Side question: Who started calling cigs analogs? that makes no sense. I just searched it, obviously I'm not alone.

I have been smoking for twenty years and love how I quit like it was nothing with my 510, I'm just wondering why in eight years of it being strong on the market there is no real research. Is it because it really is such a healthy alternative that the gov does not want to free the information to the public and keep gaining revenue from big tobacco, or is it because they are still unsure and would rather use a small group as test subjects?

Do I really have to make 15 post before I can put my smoke calculator in my sig? Really that's all I want.

Most people look to get more out of this site than just having a sig banner.

I have gotten tons out of this site and appreciate all the information that is available. I just enjoy using the search button and reading threads as opposed to asking a question. I saw the cig banner and I really like it as inspiration which is why I would like to have it. I'm not flooding the board with b/s and only wish to respond if I have helpful info.
I have read for week and posted a few questions above that I can't seem to find answers for so I'm sorry that you did happen to my semi-sarcastic remark that I made about the cig counter. But for someone as cheap as me I love seeing how much money I'm saving by not killing myself.

Edit: Would you be happier if I just made post like others that said "Ten Characters" so I can get my post count up?

I love it at well, I have tried chew, gum, the patch all of which have failed. The e-cig only took 3 days to completely switch.
I don't want to be sucking on this thing for ever either so I try to just keep it to smoke breaks as I would with an actual cig, as opposed to a vape every five to ten minutes.
Once I'm completely comfortable with it I'm dropping the nicotine a little.

LOL, some funny questions.

Science is being done all the time, Havard and a couple other schools have looked at not necessarily the benefits of vaping, but the counter argument which is the benefits of not smoking. I can tell you from first hand experience that after 33 years/2PAD smoking, I was diagnosed with COPD (72% capacity - which is actually not considered severe). My respiratory therapist wouldn't recommend vaping (because of the lack of FDA approval), but admitted she had gotten an ecig for her father. Since starting vaping, I am off Advair (was 2x/day), don't carry a rescue inhaler (haven't needed it once) and am able to taste much more (sad for the hot sauce companies since I had no idea how hot some of them are) and am able to exercise like crazy now without any breathing issues. Do I think vaping is good for me? No, but the alternative was way, WAY worse...

Oh yea, the analog thing is simply a pun reference to analog vs. digital. And the banner thing is related to post counts to reduce/eliminate spammers.

Good luck.

There are rules in place so, as best I can tell so you get to know how it works. In some support groups for addiction you are not allowed to talk until you have been through an orientation or done something else. So a few posts is nothing and most are here for help not to put up a banner. I can't post one because I smoked cigars and unless I feel like pasting a new one each day I won't be bothering.
Welcome and you have by my count 8 posts.
Again welcome and get a feel for this group. We are in a serious business. This is about health. A better (until someone says otherwise) solution to smoking analogs. The reason for the analog is that most batteries have some sort of controller. The out put is a square wave which is what is used in the digital world.
Us to be an Electronic tech. Was an Net Eng when I retired.
Besides what does that matter.

 Don't worry, I was just screwing around with ya.
I know, I'm just sarcastic, some people take the internet to serious. Then again it is hard to show humor and sarcasm in text.

Kabonk & Jessica,
I appreciate the links and I read every health post that there is before I ordered my e-cig, but as I said before there are no actual facts. I'm interested in how people are responding to vaping but really post mean nothing as we have no idea of what is going on in the 'posters'' life. Example, A guy starts vaping, at the same time changes his eating habits to correspond with his new healthy found lifestyle, Oh No!! he dirtied himself on the way to work today!! gets on the forum and says vaping is making his bowels loose. Really it was just the five pounds of lettuce he ate before going to bed.
My point being the health forum is full of "vaping is making my lungs hurt"....etc, but we don't know what else they have changed in their lifestyle that could be the actual cause.
Reason being for my initial questions, where are the facts or regulated health studies.

Also I only crapped myself twice before I realized it was the lettuce!

(Jables, that was an example of my humor in text, please don't post a pic of a fat man in a diaper)

Thanks Steved and Cloud,
I never even knew about COPD and a lot of the other dangers of smoking until I found e-cigs and started researching "comparison articles". I've learned more about cigs in a month because of e-cigs. I think it is all a bunch of talk that I didn't want to hear before because I knew I couldn't just quit smoking.
As I said before this forum is a great wealth of info. I just wish more research could be done on e-cigs.

LOL, you guys are funny. And we ALLLLL wanted that 'this many days since' banner. It IS motivational. :) When I first came here, I remember posting daily just so I could see it pop up with my post. I saw other banners that touted "6 months since my last cigarette" and felt like I would nevvvvvver get there. Now I would never go back!

Welcome to the forum, brother. :toast:
