Here is what another posted wrote that makes a lot of sense.

The amount of nicotine in a cigarette and in a e-cig cartridge aren't directly comparable.
The cig is what you are actuallly inhaling, the e-cig is what's in the juice and it's generally
accepted that you only get about 40%. Also the cig is a rush of nic (straight shot of whiskey)
and an e-cig (pint of bitters) so the effects on the user is different. The e-cig allows us to
maintain a comfortable level of nicotine in our body to ward off the nicotine fits. :)
I think this is a very good representation of what is happening when we vape non-stop.

I think I vape more. I haven't smoked a analog in 9 months. I do not plan on quitting vaping. I enjoy the taste. I vape at night more, while watching TV in my bed. My wife, who hates analogs with a passion has no complaints with my ecigs. She sleeps right next to me while I vape. You can't compare the number of times you vape with the amount of analogs you smoked, they are not the same, amount of nicotine being 1 thing that's not the same. Vape on brother, I plan to.

I vape much more than I smoke and I am pretty sure I'm taking in more nicotine too.

I get a (rather pleasant) little nicotine buzz going at night that I didn't get with smoking cigs.

I'm not concerned about it, though. My advice is vape your brains out. Do whatever you need to do stay away from the cigs. Vaping won't kill you, but the cancer sticks probably will.

Yep, I definitly vape a lot more frequently than I smoked. This worries me a bit, not for health reasons, but because of the problems I'd face with long plane trips, a long drive with other people in the car, long office meetings, a long movie, etc. I was a fairly light smoker so could easily go for hours without a smoke, but I don't think I could go much more than an hour without vaping. So what I'm trying to do now is vape a higher nicotine liquid (16/24 mg) but vape less frequently, and also mimic the way I smoked - e.g. go outside, don't vape at the computer, etc.

Strange thing for me is that for those times I can't vape much (like at work), I don;t have near the cravings as when I smoked.

I had a 3 hour marathon meeting today and felt fine afterwards. Just a few weeks ago I would have been going crazy for a cig.

Perhaps higher nicotine levels in my system help me get through the rough spots?

As has been pointed out in this and other threads, the nicotine uptake from an ecig is not the same as it is from an analog. Analogs contain multiple chemicals whose sole function is to increase the bioavailability of nicotine from the smoke. Take ammonia, for example. When the tobacco pyrolizes the ammonia freebases the nicotine, causing it to cross the lung barrier into your blood stream at a much faster and easier rate. Also, the tars in analogs cause a small amount of nicotine to stick to the inside of your lungs, making it stay in your system longer.

I suppose that would explain the tendency for chain-vaping due to slower release of nicotine, but does that answer the question of how much more (or less) nicotine, at the end of the day, I am likely ingesting?

It seems like it would be a math problem. I’m vaping 3ml of 24mg of nicotine a day versus smoking 40 cigarettes containing X amount of nicotine and X amount of strength?

Well I could only smoke 4-6 cigs a day. I felt like .... and got nauseous if I smoked too much, unless i was out drinking or something.

Now I sit around and toot on my vape all day, because it doesn't stink up my apartment and it tastes great. I love smoke, aesthetically, and I love vaping on epicurean grounds. Plus it helps me focus immensely. Nicotine is a handy drug, and oral fixation a handy habit.

I also vape much more, and it DOES worry me. Honestly, I am not sure if the comparison of analogs and e-cigs above is right. It depends. I used to smoke ultra-lights ONLY, about 15 cigs per day (1 in an hour), and now I have to use 24mg (less does nothing for me so far) and I vape almost every 5 minutes. I think I consume more nicotine now than before. It also seems I started coughing. But at least I don't get tar on my lungs, and that's what encourages me to continue. Hopefully with time I will do better than that.

Interesting. I was in a 3 hour meeting the other day and thinking back, the cravings actually weren't much different than when I was smoking, and possibly a little less than before. It could be higher nicotine getting us through the rough spots, but it's also possible that we've got lower nic level, e.g. decreased nic addiction? Or I could be dreaming :p

I definitely vape more that I used to smoke,
In the first place I can vape while watching Tv in the house,,,,didn't before
I can vape in bed before going to sleep,,,didn't before
I can vape in my car or other peoples cars without opening the window,,,didn't before
I vape sometimes while shopping in stores,,,didn't before,
Yes, I vape more, Mostly because I enjoy it more than I did analogs, And vaping doesn't make me cough or hurt my throat or any of the other things that happened when I smoked and said, 'that's enough...I can't take,,,don't want another drag'
Vaping is a different experience. It really is about flavor and enjoyment where smoking was really about the drug delivery,
Yes, I vape more that I used to smoke,
Because it tastes better than smoking,
Because the room doesn't get cloudy when I vape and my eyes don't sting and nothing smells bad so I would want to stop,
Because I enjoy it more,
And,,,
Because I can,
