Are you vaping everywhere?

Hello World!
I just started vaping 2 weeks ago, and quite smoking at the same time... Yeah!
I wonder if it's the same for you, but I still get out with smoker at break time to vape because I'm kind of shy to vape at my desk!
Even if it still smell something (mint or butterscotch at the moment), I don't feel comfortable to vape in public area.
I feel like an E.T. with my Provari and bought a eRoll to look a bit more low profile when I do vape out of home.
I live in Montreal Canada and I notice that it's still pretty uncommon to use e-Cig around here!
Thanks

fortunately almost no one even looks twice where I live so i openly vape everywhere.
and even when trying to be obvious hoping someone asks, no one seems to really care around here lol
and in my part of the building where i work im pretty much by myself so it sits right on my table and no one cares when they walk by.

but thats always been one of the cool parts of living here, everyone minds their own business in public.

My husband and I take ours everywhere, and I have no problem vaping in public. In fact, Friday night we went out to a local bar with some friends and as a courtesy asked if we could use our e-cigs in the bar, they said no problem, so we vaped all night long inside and no one gave us a second look. I think it's pretty cool we are starting to see places that are becoming familiar with electronic cigarettes and vaping. :)

Been vaping about 4 months and as each day passes, I count the extra change in my pocket from not buying analogs. I have no problem with vaping in public. I get some looks from people and questions about vaping vs analogs. I will walk into my local grocery store and vape away as I check out the prices on the shelf. No one has bothered me yet. Out of courtesy, if someone does complain the smell of coffee/hazelnut/chocolate in a vapor form, I'll put it away until they're out of range. Doesn't matter what you do these days, someone will find something to complain about for whatever reason. Vape in public. Let them know you care!!

Hey bald_joint! Woot - another Canadian joins the vaping ranks!

Come on over to the Canadian Forum when you get a chance and hang out with the rest of us Canucks.

As to your question, I personally try to abide by our smoking ban rules and I don't vape openly everywhere. However, saying that . .. . I have become very good at stealth vaping and so far only 1 place has asked me what I was doing and to put it away. :)

I think you have to do what makes you comfortable. If you don't feel good about vaping somewhere . . . . then don't.

I live in Pennsylvania and so far so good.. I'm actually sitting in a Bob Evans as I'm typing this vaping away.. the waitress actually told me its fine after asking what it was and wanted to know where to get one at..

So far if she buys one that'll be the forth person this month that I personally have converted to PVs lol..

Good luck and just keep a detailed explanation on why its safe at your ready.. I'm sure you'll run into more people that will understand than people who don't.. that's my experience at least..

I vape openly everywhere I go. Grocery Stores, bars, restaurants, hardware stores.

I haven't had any negative encounters. People seem curious and interested. I have passed out a lot of vendor cards, and maybe even helped make a few converts.

Not everyone can be (or wants to be) an evangelist, and use their vaping as an educational opportunity by engaging the public and INVITING the public to engage them with questions. But I am, and I enjoy it.

I like the idea that by "Open Vaping" I may catch the eye of a smoker who wants to quit, an get them headed in the right direction.

I like the idea that some misinformed person might get the TRUTH from me about Vaping, and may be converted to our side and become an informed ally as opposed to a misinformed opponent.

And this all happens in the People's Republic of Maryland. IF the general public can be open, accepting and curious about vaping in this god-forsaken nanny-state neo-feudalistic oligarchy, then successful public outreach should be easy and successful pretty much ANYWHERE in this Hemisphere...

I have found that there are a few keys to Open Vaping. First, it helps if you look "respectable". Being in my mid-40s an having salt-an-pepper hair adds a lot of legitimacy and authorit to what I have to say in the eyes of many people. (Unfortunately, being a young vaper is a HUGE strike against you, because ANTZ feel that young people are easier to bully, and it's become socially acceptable to bully a young white males for activities that are perceived as "controversial", like exercising their basic human rights like a normal person...)

Second, NOT ASKING PERMISSION. I never ask permission to vape, any more than I would ask permission to wear a t-shirt with a political message, or ask permission to wear a piece of religious jewelry, or ask permission to carry my legally-owned and licensed concealed handgun. When you ask permission many people (especially young people working in "service industries") will fall back to their default position of saying NO because they have been trained by our society that if you have to ask permission to do something, it is probably not allowed, and you're asking for a special exception to the rules. Most companies--even restaurants--have NO RULES against vaping, and so it is NOT PROHIBITED. If someone complains, you can thank them for letting you know, politely ask for the bill, close out and write on the receipt that you are taking your future business to one of their competitors who is vape-friendly, and NAME that other business...

So yeah, I am a HUGE proponent and practitioner of "Open Vaping". I WELCOME engagement by the public. I like talking to them about Vaping. I enjoy the idea of making converts, and I actually look forward to educating misinformed people and exposing the ANTZ for the rude, crazy, lying control freak sociopaths they are. I've been playing this same game in the Gun Rights world for nearly a decade, and most of the tactics of our opponents are EXACLTY the same, so I've got a lot of experience in being an activist carrying a devise that scares people who are uninformed or misinformed, and I've got a LOT of experience in dealing calmly with people who are irrational, brainwashed and TRYING to make me look like the bad guy. I've learned how to take their hate and control-freak mentality and use it like a judo wrestler as a VERY effective tool against them.

The key to dealing with these crazy, aggressive ANTZ is to set up the situation so that THEY look like the one being rude, aggressive, uneducated, oppressive an inconsiderate. PUBLIC PERCEPTION is 99% of the battle...

So I say, VAPE ONE, and VAPE OPENLY!

I recently quit smoking when I started working for my cousin who sells e-cigs. I had remembered looking into them a of couple years ago and thought it looked like a good alternative, unfortunately I was unable (and unmotivated) to procure one. Once I started (on an 808 double kit) I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed it and have since upgraded to an ego twist with a vivi nova tank. Quite a difference from the look-a-likes I started on. Anyway, I also started another job at an electronics retailer equipped with a back room for breaks. I inquired as to my vaping in the break room. My boss (nice guy) said he didn't see a problem with it but must do his own inquiry with corporate. Half an hour later he comes up to me and says that I am not allowed to vape anywhere in the store (including the doored-off break room) because patrons might think I am smoking and light up their own cigarettes under the assumption that it is permitted. I live in Ontario where smoking has not been permitted in doors for decades (you cant even smoke in bus shelters here!). As I stated before, I have just started this job so I wasn't about to start arguing, but I thought that the policy and reasoning is absolutely ridiculous. Has anyone come across anything similar in the workplace. Its not a huge deal because I still vape in the bathroom regardless, but I would still love to hear what other people think of this situation.

One more thing: I got on the bus last night and did my usual shpeal for the driver (they're usually okay with vaping) but after I explained how healthy it was he told me with a very stern face that I would not be using it on the bus, pointed at the no-smoking sign (obviously didn't listen to a word I said) then proceeded to get up and make everyone on the bus (which was packed) wait an extra 5 minutes so he could have a cigarette. I think the answer is clear but: Who is causing the disturbance here!?

I don't vape indoors in public (unless I'm stealth vaping), because i feel that the vapor could become a nuissance. But outdoors, I do it everywhere, even places where no smoking signs are posted. Like StereoDreamer, I see it as an opportunity to convert and inform. The way I see it, the more people are informed, the fewer people we will have addicted to death sticks, and the fewer people we will have trying to stop us from enjoying ourselves.

I'm just as Kable.
I usually don't vape indoors, except when i'm a bit drunk. :D
Then i try to stealth vape. (As stealth as i can manage with my ProVari 18650) LOL
Outdoors i have no problem vaping all the time.
I see it as an icebreaker and then there's conversations going.
I've even managed to date some girls just because we started talking about my ProVari or iTaste MVP.
Bottom line: Don't hide your vaping, at least not outdoors. You'll never know where a conversation about vaping can get you.. :vapor:
