Everyone's homes are soooo beautiful!! I love your bathroom, GC - Call me ms. Envious! Debbir - Maybe we can talk and you can share some pointers for a first-time home buyer. What things you can do yourself.. what things you need to contract out - etc.

it's funny that everyone loves our flooring - It's the reason we ended up going with this apartment. That, and the bay windows in the living room.. which I don't think I got a good pic of. But they are stunning =D

Our flooring actually needs some work btw. If you look closely you can probably tell that the floors in the Mancave and the childs room are different than that of the hallway and our bedroom. The floors in the hallway & bedroom are nice, high quality wood panels. But the mancave and the childs room are cheap, and they are cracking.. and there are gaps between each panel. From what I understand, the people who were here before us were drunken, lazy, dirty college students and destroyed a huge portion of the home. So the floors in mancave & baby's room had to be redone.. and they went for the cheapest wood panels apparently. And they didn't even BOTHER with the living/dining area - It sort of looks like carpet but a closer look with show you it is just linoleum tile!

Yes.. there's a lot of work to be done on this house - But I looooove it. Anyone know how much it generally costs to re-floor? I'd like to make the two rooms match the rest of the house, and restore the wood flooring that's under the linoleum in the living room.

It was dog ..../piss that ruined them, btw. Damn dirty college kids.

true;) i got a kink in my neck looking at the bathroom !!!!!

as to my view - that's about 30 yrs of work, lol

That bathroom needs Tons of work...total demolish and rebuild...needs more room, too. Just don't know where to take it from I didn't even bother putting in the one of the half bath...wayyy too difficult to see. That one is the same..loads of work needed.

Honestly, it depends on your area. I didn't get hardwood, wanted to, but decided against it. Best bet is to have three to four contractors come out and give you an estimate, IMO

I would love to share my place with you but, I'm now retired and living in a 3 room apartment complex for old farts.
It has a small kitchen with no dining area. A small living room and is where I eat. Then there's the small bedroom with one bed and no other furnishings in it.
Unfortunately, I've become a fire victom awhile back and have no furnishing to speak of.
Don't feel sorry for me, I'm single, have no family anymore and am enjoying the solitude of life.
I spend about 12-18 hours a day behind a monster gaming computer I've custom built.
I am very happy but broke, living off of SS now. LOL But I love it.
If you just had to visualize it, visualize a small 3 room apartment with very little content within. Basically, an unfurnished 3 room apartment is about all it is.

there's always tons of work involved with a house. love the color in your office

Thank you. We painted almost the whole house the same greenish color, but rooms got their own color. I just love this burnt orange. Couldn't talk dh into having it in the master, but he acquiesced to the office.

We're going into our 3rd year of running our own business and we're pretty strapped too with 3 kids. We rent and it's not a great house but it's big and it's cheap, and we're TRYING to tolerate it until we're ready to buy. We're debating on whether we can do it though because it's drafty so it's too cool in the winter and too hot in the summer. Everything else we can live with.

Speaking of homes and hard work. My A/C has pulled it's yearly "konk out session". The first heat wave we have, the A/C freezes over. Trying to thaw it out, while I sit here roasting and being grumpy!
