This book changed my life when I was 13. I met the beats and they understood me. Norse, Ginsberg, William Carlos Williams, Kerouac. Amazing. I've read this cover to cover many times.

Cyclin, my lad, you are much too young to know of the late great Jack Kerouac, the creator of the Beat generation. Hell, he was even before my time!
Well, I just bought my first rebuildable. God help me! Given that it came with a Lavatube and 2 18650 AWR batteries for $45 means it doesn't really matter if I screw things up. :D
Ahhh that explains it

Good score on the LT for that price. That was the first VV device I ever used and my wife's favorite PV. She's on a Vmax now tho... If you guys see another on the classies for that price with batts lemme know. Got some new converts that the eGo's I gave them just aren't working for

I'll be honest, I never cared much for Stephen king. He always makes me too aware that I am reading.
I tend to agree. That said, I greatly prefer his short stories to his novels. And the experts agree; he's generally included in courses covering Modern American Short Story authors.

Oh I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that isn't fond of reading him. I love his stories, I hate how he tells them. He's incredibly long winded in his descriptions of things.. you can only describe an object so much before you bore your reader, 2 pages on the color of something or the lighting in the room, or whatever it happens to be this time, is way too much description. It's like he's writing a script with full set direction instead of telling the story, I like a little bit left to the imagination!
For me, he does a much better job at telling the story when limiting himself to a short story.

I agree. It's like he wrote his novels expecting them to be movies. Conversely, some of his best films came from his short stories. I mean, Stand by Me and Shawshank Redemption were much more powerful movies than Carry and Cujo, lol. I do have to admit to going back to "The Stand" time after time.

Agreed on the king short stories!

Anybody know of a good alfredo sauce in a jar?
No. But I do a pretty good cheat; cook a pound of pasta (I'm a purist so I do fettucine); drain and toss it back in the pot. Add a stick of butter, a cup of heavy cream and a goodly amount of Parmesan. Salt, pepper and you're good. In fact, I made this on Sunday to serve with my Chicken Piccata.

The Stand is on my list of best books. I have read it several times. Of course it does not compare to Michener, Costain, or Clavell imo.... I guess I would place The Silver Chalice and The Tontine along with Hawaii in my top five....
