Here is a question for Dr. Tom Frieden and for Stanton Glantz. If e-cigarettes are causing youth to start smoking and causing adults to continue smoking, how do they explain the fact that during the time that the popularity of e-cigarettes has been growing (2009 through 2012), the percentage of youth that smoke and of adults that smoke has been steadily going down, reaching an all-time low in 2012?
