As a responsible community, please recycle your batteries

Since we are an upright responsible community of vapers, some people may want to know what to do with spent or damaged lithium batteries. Please do not throw them into your regular trash, as they may present a hazard.

If you do not know of a disposal place where you live, here is a site (and I'm sure there are others) where you can locate a place that will take them:

Fortunately, we go through a lot of different batteries at work and we have a few battery recycling bins.

Most electronics and home improvement stores also have battery recycling programs (Best Buy, Lowes, etc.). Just google your local store name and the word battery recycling and most will turn up a hit.

It's really a very simple and easy process to recycle them. DON'T just throw them down or put them in the trash. Excessive vaping waste, especially hazardous batteries, only brings the ANTZ down on us.

And do take the time to cover the positive pole with some sticky tape before you recycle them.

(Here in Norway all shops that sell electronics are required by law to accept used electronics for recycling. I guess other countries have similar arrangements.)

I just took a paper bag full of batts to my Home Depot, both ends covered w/ electrical tape, and dropped them in the bin. They have been building up in a drawer for about 3 years.

P.S. even worse, as "organic" VTC5s, as we found them growing in the nature all by themselves....

I discharge my Li-ion batts before recycling them. I have been just tossing all my non-rechargables in a bag and dropping them off, but the tape idea is great and I'm going to do that with them from now on

I cannot condone the tape method, personally.

You having the knowledge we share as rc enthusiasts could certainly help educate the community on proper practices. Those such as eliminate the potential energy thus the threat via a proper discharge before disposal.

We're light years behind here.

With some very important caveats.
