I went to the As Seen on TV thread only to find it closed.

There is a new one out there, and maaaaan do I wish it had good reviews. Have you guys seen the commercial for NoNo? It's a hair removal thing, supposed to remove hair and then cause it to grow back sparser and sparser and take longer to do so. This thing is flippin' expensive, over $200, so as much as I wanted to go right out and get one, I looked at some reviews. Mostly, the reviews were pretty bad. Enough so that I gave up my dream of silky smooth legs and bikini line for weeks at a time. *sigh*

Have any of you tried this?

I wanted to get it for my mom, but like you said, the reviews are very off-putting. I haven't found anything satisfactory aside from wax, which waxing gets really old after a while. Even laser treatments don't do so great because the laser targets dark hair mainly and misses the gray or white coarse ones. Some epilators get good reviews, but it can be painful, especially on the upper lip and around the eyebrows.

I don't know anyone personally who has tried it, but I just googled NoNo reviews. Of course, being As Seen On TV, there are a lot of propaganda sites put out by the company, but sift through and you will find independent reviews. There are a few good ones, but the bad ones sadly outnumber them. If you do take the leap, please be a dear and be a guinea pig for us. Let us know what you think.

Morning All!

Supposedly, CES, you don't really feel anything, but I did find one review that explained in detail how you have to use it and that if you do certain things wrong it will feel too hot. I checked in on Amazon and they seemed to have really legit reviews -- everyone gave the good and the bad. Anyway, the consensus there, to my interpretation, is that they do work, not as miraculously as the ads make out, but if you're patient, learn to use it right, and keep using it -- 6 weeks or more -- that the hair will start to disappear (as in permanently). So I think when all our "riches" come in  I'm going to get one. One review on Amazon was expansive -- she gave a week by week -- and as of her last comment, she'd not had one last past the 60 day guarantee, but she said the company promptly replaced every single one of them when she returned them -- no one else mentioned a continuing problem with the breaking.

If and when I get one, I'll keep you all posted!

I tried to find reviews on Sephora.com but they no longer sell it.

My go-to place for beauty info on the Web is www. makeupalley .com. Great review section, but unfortunately short of info on the no! no!. Perhaps go to the skincare board and ask the members...they are very knowledgeable.

Sorry I can't help more. I use a Gillette Spa Breeze razor...it has the shaving cream built into two tiny bars on each side of the razor blade. First razor I have ever used that hasn't cut me to bloody ribbons. Also self-limiting---you can't really use it when it gets dull because by the time you do, the little bars have worn off. Depilatories give me a dreadful rash, and epilators are just agonizingly painful to me. Have never had any part of my body waxed...scared:blush:

A fairly good indicator of how well the latest gadget works: check how many are for sale on ebay or your favourite online classifieds, described as "barely used". Bad sign ;)

The negative reviews I read were on Amazon and just googling reviews as well. I always read the negatives first, pessimist that I am :p.

Me too:) I can't remember the product under review, but once I read a one-star review of something that was positive. It went something like this:

If you are like me you are in the middle of a non-stop block of negative reviews, so I thought I'd disguise a rave as a one star review and urge you to buy/read/listen to/watch this. It's really great.

Sneaky and it made me smile:D

Scarf, check out beautypedia.com -- any and everything you ever wanted to know about cosmetics, etc., from someone who's been a critic for many years of what I call false advertising in the industry! Paula Begoun has been doing this for years and and just gives away all this info! She didn't have her own product line for years, and she still promotes whatever products are good at whatever price, not just hers! And there are links to cosmetic cops and Paula Begoun's websites for other info.

 CES, you reminded me -- I was shaving my legs with my electric razor one day and Earnhardt was fascinated with the shaver. Well, I turned it off and stuck it out for him to examine and, I must confess, the devil took my sole for a moment  and I turned it on! Ever since then, he thinks that thing is a booger-bear and barks and carries on when I use it! Have to put him outside to use it!

those slippers could be fun...i wonder if they'd get a reaction from the beasties ;)

That's the benchmark for electronics/gadgets around my place: How entertaining will it be to watch the cats freak out over this?

I have a Vita-Mix (basically a turbine powered blender) and every time we turn it on the animals jump straight up into the air. Highly amusing.

I'm sick:facepalm:
