I have always wondered why certain flavors change color when mixed with nic. Neither one changes color in their original bottles; only when they are mixed. Could it be that the flavorings expedite nic oxidation? It only happens with some flavors - not all.

There could be a couple things happening there. It could definitely be an acceleration of the nic oxidation by the flavors, but I believe the biggest contributor to the change in color is the fresh air introduced when the solution is mixed together. Then there is also the heat/light factor.

I have a question that I am curious about. I am thinking of purchasing some VG based nic from you guys for a change from my regular PG based nic.

I know that years ago RTS purchased a very expensive piece of equipment to efficiently mix your thick VG with your nicotine.

My question is would there be any separating of the nicotine and VG with your VG based nicotine making it necessary to shake vigorously before using in order to prevent hot spots?

Time for another tip from your RTS Chemist.

If you are tired of giving it all you have to syringe 30 mL's of VG, try using a 60 cc catheter tip syringe. You'll save your arm and be doing your happy dance! :rickroll:
When I make my flavors I meticulously measure my Nic, PG and flavors and know exactly where the remaining VG should stop in a bottle. I no longer use a syringe to put my VG in. I just pore it straight out of the bottle into the my juice bottle. I learned that a long time ago, lol.
Great tips and glad to see this thread was started.

No shaking required. Once mixed properly, there is no separation between the nic and the VG. We also test representative samples from every batch before we even bottle the nic checking for strength and hot spots.

While I plan to freeze some of my 70vg/30pg NIC stock, I was told NOT to even refrigerate the flavorings and other items like sweeteners (Ethyl Maltol etc.).

Wondering what the approx. shelf life is for those ingredients? THANKS
Most manufacturers give a shelf life of about 12 months, but technically flavors never go "bad". I also talked about this in post #35. Yes, you should not store your flavors in the refrigerator because it will lower the saturation point of the liquid and ingredients will start precipitating out of the solution.

Thank you. So even after being stored for a long period of time there will be no need to worry about hot spot. Very good to know :)

Don't "natural" ingredients have biological components that will "do stuff" & change?

Thanks
Yes, those ingredients will change over time as well. Like in the case of a strawberry for example, it is the fruit itself that goes bad and changes the flavor components to give it a sour "rotten" taste. If you take the flavor components out of the fruit, they will not change in the same way.

Any problem with storing Hangsen tobaccos long term?
I have never discussed this directly with Hangsen. From what I have read in other threads and my experience with the concentrates themselves, seems to be no issue.

Some say they are still using some HS concentrates from 3 years ago with no issue.

That's exactly the kit that got me started in DIY. You'll enjoy it...

Nice, always good to know that other people here have used the same thing with success.

Just got the kit today, woot! Mixed up 60vg/40pg 10ml of 18mg Blueberry, vaping it as I write this. I always pictured DIY as something complicated, but it's really just a little math and a lot of fun :) I don't see myself buying much pre-made juice going forward, now that I've seen DIY firsthand.

I hope you enjoy your first DIY experience! I actually designed the kit myself. I believe it has everything a beginner needs to get going in DIY e-juice.

Super cool, nice work! The kit is absolutely packed, like clown car full of DIY awesomeness.

The pamphlet in the box recommends freezing the liquid nicotine, which comes in an amber plastic bottle. Should I first put it in a dark glass bottle (which sounds like the way to go, based on other posts in this thread), or is it OK to freeze in the amber plastic?

On that note, I also see notes about making sure the bottle is topped off to avoid oxidation- is it OK to freeze it after each use, even if the bottle ends up with more and more empty space as I go along?

Final question: is it possible to get a full ingredient lists for the flavors? I'm trying to avoid artificial sweeteners like aspartame, but they just list 'natural and artificial flavors'.
