Which is why that before yesterday I had no idea that I might have some degree of aspergers. I did not think that one with aspergers could manage to function in a job, and society in general.

Most Asperger people have jobs and are often highly successful in business. Lots of the people who have severe forms of autism are diagnosed at a young age because it is obvious that they are not normal. Adult Asperger people on the other hand function almost the same way as anyone else and can go their entire lives without getting a diagnosis because it is not evident that anything is amiss with them.

I'm a disorganised schizophrenic if anyone has a similar disorder.

I only take some old fashioned anti depressants though.
Been through most of the antipsychotics but all they do is make me want to sleep all the time.
Been seeing current Dr every two weeks for the past seven years.

nah, I don't especially care for online diagnosis myself but I do think it can be helpful in determining if a person could "possibly" be in the spectrum. If someone takes said test and it's indicative of Asperger's then I don't automatically assume they are one of them. But it would be a suggestion that they may be in the spectrum somewhere. Only dedicated autism specialist's can determine where they are on the spectrum and too what degree.

Don't know anything about that... All as I know is that it has been the opposite from what I have seen. Most of the shrinks I have ever seen seem to have no clue about Asperger's and so don't diagnose people with it. You may have experienced a different set of psychiatrists. I only know what I have seen. Went to various shrinks for years for my anxiety disorder and you would think that one of them somewhere along the line would have picked up on it  No, they are too busy wanting to throw anti-anxiety medications and anti-depressants down my throat. But the female Dr I am seeing now was sensitive enough to pick up on subtle clues that the others seem to have failed at.

Because to look at me, and perhaps talk to me, you would never know I was any different from Joe blow down the street. I am not deformed in any way, and I have good speech. Not to brag (well maybe :w00t:) I have always been told I am a very good looking dude. That being the case, then I don't imagine that I appear any different than most folks.

It's taken me two years to even remotely believe what the croaker diagnosed me with. I simply didn't want to believe it. Slowly though, and at random times, I have bumped into an Asperger person from time to time and I have slowly started to realize that I am in fact very much like what they claim I am. So, who is correct, the Doctor or myself? I don't know but I do know that I do not have the medical knowledge about Asperger's like they probably have because psychiatry and medicine are not my forte. I wouldn't want to be a shrink or a physician.

But yes, I agree about your concerns with online tests. Personally, I don't think one way or another about my diagnosis. I am still living my life as I always have and I do not lean on it as a crutch. Nor do I assume that it somehow makes me a better person. I simply don't assume anything about it. The only thing I can say is that lots of my denial about having it has faded away in the last couple of years.

    Yeah.
I've been told i look too normal,
I'm too smart, and people really like me, and i do really well at work.
I can't have anxiety, add, aspergers.
    I can't?
    Lol.
    I do.
    Period.
I wish i could show people inside my head.

I too am not as bad about confrontations as I once was. Maybe it is just a part of getting old and not giving a big rats ... as much?

My jobs have forced me to be more social.
    Can't say i enjoy it.
Then i run home and hide.
But i do ok at work

Growing up our home life was very reclusive and we just figured thats how he was. Until he had a breakdown and went to the hospital for several weeks.

you don't have to show me brother because I know what is in your head. I am the same way as you :) Look normal on the outside but yet it is like viewing life from the outside and looking at others. You desire to be like them (in ways) but you can't because they are boring.

    Man.
    How is he?
I've never had a large breakdown.
But far too many "mini breakdowns"

Might want to check out a new doctor? My regular doctor went into politics and I have not been able to see the same doctor in the office in his office since he went into politics. Time for a new doctor for me and maybe a head shrinker too. Been years since I went to one of those.

    Yep.
Over the years I've come to avoid "normal" people.
Mostly based on my own fears.
Always been friends with the different people.
    That's OK with me

I started work in retail 4 years ago and am beginning to hate people in general. I too run home to hide a recuperate for the next days ordeal.
And the wishy washy management in retail sucks. I like rulz and order. It is NOT in retail.

He is fine "In his world" I take care of him and do the things that require interactions.
Although I myself am not a fan of them I can get by for brief interactions.

Normal people talk football and such all the time, love NASCAR and reality shows and have heroes. I am NOT nermal.

Yeah, when I explain to folks that I hate hunting and football, why they get a screwed look on their face like they just messed in their shorts or something

One only has to know how mentally healthy /sane people act/behave to pass a Minnesota Multiphasic Personality test.

    Yeah.
The questions they ask are. ... obvious.
And you don't want to be judged harshly.
    So you cheat a little.
    So you appear more normal
