So the part I'm confused about is what is this job. I did the SQL thing on codecamy and it was how to create the databases and then how to pull information from them. But what is the use of this in the business world? I'm a little confused about what companies use this sort of database and need people to pull the information from them?
Virtually all large companies. Employee database information, inventory information, sales information, customer information, etc.

Well, what you could do is learn a couple of different languages and this would give you a better feel for the aspects of those languages and their capabilities. Since you majored in Language (English) there is a language that was developed by a linguist and so the language is lots different than most languages. Yes, I am referring to the language of Perl --- It has been used in for most any type of application and area out there. It was even used on the human genome project and well as the space craft in outer space --- I like it because I like very cryptic as well as very powerful languages that allow me to do lots of stuff if I so desire --- Lots of languages are fairly restrictive and you can only do just so many things --- but Perl allows you to do lots of things including database work. Lots of folks don't like Perl because it is so cryptic and foreign looking -- I like it because it keeps newbies from understanding my code :)

Most programming languages allow you to interface with various types of databases and so you can do database programming via most languages out there -- So, if you learn one of those larger languages then you can do database programming as well as other types of programming if you so desire.
I've heard great things about Perl.

Amazing how many of us have electronics backgrounds. I've been electrocuted more times than I can count. I worked in the amusements industry for about 8 years after getting my BSEE.

I became an expert of sorts in CRT based monitors, since that was what all video games had in them. The one job that I had with "engineer" in the title was when I was a "Technical Engineer" for a company that made CRT based monitors. Glorified tech, I ran their Denver Service Center. Got shocked lotsa times. Fun fact--you can discharge a CRT, get a big arc and crack--and still get shocked because there was still just a little bit of charge leftover. Ouch, but doesn't make your head spin like a full jolt can.

For extra credit, lay your hand on the back of a CRT in a running monitor sometime. It's an indescribable sensation.

I'll dig up some links for you. Everyone needs data. You'll learn how to data mine. Like Amazon, Facebook. How "magically" things you "may" be interested in appear as ads. lol

yep, databases are the core of information and data, even for many desktop apps --- but it takes other languages to manipulate that data once it is fetched out of a database and this is where people will need a larger type of language.

Ok. Side track. This is why I hate Kanger tanks. With my arthritis thumbs I always get them screwed too tightly onto my vamo, and then can't get them off!!!!

I'm not sure if that says more about us or about the tech industry...does it attract crazies :w00t: or does it create them?

    OMG!!! A post about vaping!!!

The situation you describe is why I always have a pair of pliers with electrical tape wrapped around the jaws handy.

I've been experimenting with carto tanks. Messy, but it is true that you get good flavor production from them.
