Aspire Nautilus has a Chromed Brass chimney.

Anyone got any word on what metals the nautilus Mini & the K1 are made from? Haven't had a chance to read the whole thread yet and there is no 'thread search' feature on Tapatalk.

The K1 is chromed brass, only the drip tip is steel, and they aren't claiming the entire unit is steel so that's not an issue. I assume the Nautilus mini is just like the full size, with the chimney being chromed but the rest being steel. But until someone starts sanding their gear we won't know for sure.

i haven't been on ft's forum to see what's going on but they did replace the taifun last year once people started to complain

Well isn't that just great, the K1 has chromed brass too? I have 3 of them. I am getting closer and closer to a rebuildable tank. I love the convenience of the glassomizer. But this is just ridiculous.

They are fine. Good little clearos for a super cheap price. Almost everything around that price point is made of similar materials, and Aspire didn't try to tell you it's all steel. I overreacted about the Nautilus myself, but really it isn't a big deal. I wouldn't worry too much about your K1's.

I have read a lot of this thread and apart from the fact that they made an error in the description I'm at a loss to see what the problem is.
Do you all think that you are suddenly going to die from chromium poisoning?

Fattlestar, I am new to vaping. I assumed that all the health effecting materials in the hardware had been worked out by now. Now I guess my ET-S isn't stainless steel either? I am a bit irked by all of this. The price they have been charging for a lot of this stuff could have been stainless steel. I guess I am expecting too much. Maybe some enterprising American or British company will come out with at least full stainless, and full pyrex. The sad thing is, I really liked the Nautilus Mini!

Now that's a different matter, the coil issue I can understand as we know that SOME fiberglass particles can be very dangerous. They have responded to this and their answer makes sense but it's one of those you just have to decide for yourself. Even with cleoros I prefer to have the ones that can be recoiled so I know what I'm using even though I don't worry too much about thing I want it more for the flavour.

After checking the Aspire forum, I found out this thread Aspire Support: •View topic - the chimney of the Nautilus is chrome plated brass

Aspire actually admits that the Nautilus chimney is made of brass and the surface is chromed.

I've checked the Nautilus manual (http://www.aspirecig.com/uploads/soft/Manual-aspire-Nautilus.pdf) and all they say is that Nautilus is made of Stainless Steel & Pyrex glass. They never mentioned the Chromed Brass chimney before...

I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

That's pretty disturbing; when I read the thread topic I presumed that it was really a knockoff and not a Aspire manufactured product.

It's a pretty big negative to me.

I'd buy a chrome plated brass knowoff to try out, but for a genuine brand name product I expect quality steel and not chrome; kinda defeats the point of a glass tank instead of plastic if you chimney chrome plated instead of stainless steel.

AFAIK, the old response from August 13 (by Tina--stating it was ceramic) and the accompanying lab test (stating that it is "fiberglass paper") have been officially deleted from the Aspire Support Forum:

Aspire Support confirmed that in their email to me, stating that: "The name used in the certification is wrong,therefore,we remove it from our website to avoid any misunderstanding."

I'm still waiting for a new official (and improved) answer from Aspire.

Not true. Kanger Aerotanks are cheaper then Nautilus tanks (I got mine for 18 bucks) and they are all stainless steel.

ET-S is not stainless but I don't think they ever claimed that it was.

ETA: ET-S is "metal casing (sleeve) protecting the tank and the Pyrex glass tank." The drip tip is undoubtedly chrome-plated something and is not removable (at least on the one I have), which is one of the reasons I don't use mine anymore. Another is the tight draw.

Was speaking in regards to the Aspire K1 which is at worst 10$, but averages about 8$. If we were talking about Nautilus type models, they are ballpark with Aerotanks, although I paid 15$ for my full size and 19$ for my mini.

Fine--but we really can't compare regular retail prices of one manufacturer to discount/sale prices of another.

And if they are ballpark, than one is ss and the other one is not--in the same park.

Right! Kanger sells similar (all glass) clearos for 7 and 8 bucks. Think eVod 2 glass and T3D glass.

Katya, am I understanding you correctly in that the Kanger Aerotank is similar in performance to the Nautilus, but has the advantage of being SS?
