You know I'm going to have to try this out when I get my v2.

I just got a sack of replacement o-rings for the pin, so if the R-only damages them, it won't be an issue.

I just did a R wire only setup with cotton.. Looks like an alien though because I have cotton sticking out of the inlet slots.. LOL

Need to trim before I screw the tube down next time..

Vapes fine so far with the R wire only..

Hahaha.. Yes sir, I know you will.. You and I are the unofficial V1 test dummies I believe.

I am not noticing any flavor degradation thus far.. It may be there and perhaps the cotton is countering that effect some.

I am going to build another later because this coil came out at 2.1 ohms and I'd rather be at 1.6ish..

FYI, I just got the o-rings to replace the lower acetal in the v1, for anybody who might want to try this out.

I sacrificed one of my v1 Divers. Removing the lower acetal took a while, it really is wedged in there. Make sure not to remove the upper acetal. You will in all likelihood shred or otherwise damage the acetal as you remove it, so the removal is a one-way trip, a new acetal will be required in case you decide to go back to factory default.

The four o-rings that replace the lower acetal make the pin stick out a bit from the bottom. I built a 28 R/32g NR microcoil @ 1.3 ohms with cotton yarn, standard Diver build (no anti-leak tricks).

In the Scuba, the draw is a tiny bit tighter than with the acetal. So far, with 100%VG Ahlusion Banana Cream Pie (a very thick juice), no leaking, no gurgling, no dry hits.

I will next try the Diver in the SnP, which thus far has been the most difficult to keep leak-free with the Diver. I will also try with a thinner juice, to see how that fares.

Have you used it much?

I've been kicking around the idea of getting one since I saw the review Q did but since the Diver is the only atty I have that uses NR-R-NR setup, I am having a hard time justifying the $75..

Why don't you buy the premade NR-R-NR wire? It makes life easier. :)

Edit: Somebody beat me to it.

B'coz:
1. For some of the Ohms that we do/target ~ those pre-mades aren't available,
2. Not available in 28AWG Kanthal (some of us need that gauge for microcoils) AFAIK,
3. There's a fun aspect into 'welding', AND a satisfaction√
4. Those vendor's out-of-CONUS shipping is a killer, sad.

You can always buy the ready wires at Kanthal Ready Wires

I couldn't justify it either...

Ya I won't do the pre made ones.. I will either twist them myself OR in this case I believe regular ole' resistance wire is working like a champ!

Rebuilt again with R wire only and cotton a little bit ago and it's rockin'

There is no delrin in the V2 base so we don't have to worry about that anymore.. The only concern would be the o-rings and the ceramic cup.

I will continue to test R wire only as if it works then I will NEVER use NR-R-NR again!

sure it will work ;) but you will lose a lot of power.
just an example, 0.32 kanthal has 0,197 ohms per cm
your coil has 1.9 ohm
on each end you have 1 cm "free wire" (diver has little bit less than 1 cm, but its only an example)
the effectiv coil has 1,4 ohm, each end will have 0.2 ohm
mean you lose 25% of your voltage
I made an picture, i guess this is more easy to understand than my english :D
