Cotton, but I will switch to a new coil with silica or Ekowool and run through the same battery of tests I mentioned in my PM. Just for you, my man!

I have both Ekowools, and some errant silica in 2mm. I assume the 3mm Ekowool gave you dry hits if you squeezed it into the cup slots. I'll start with a single strand of that, I think it is the right amount for the external slots, build above the cup to not impede juice flow through the cup slots.

If it fails, I can always blame the Russians.

Organic cotton balls from CVS.. I have tried and tried to like cotton but I just don't.. My other 'minor issue' with cotton is that I vape about 6ml a day. I am lazy and don't want to drain the tank, remove the Diver, unscrew the diver, remove the old cotton, dry burn the coil, insert new cotton, reassemble Diver, fill the tank back up daily...

I know this is a quick process but like I said, I am lazy.. But that's not my main reason.. My main reason is that I just don't like cotton. Maybe it's something in my taste buds that can still pick up the cotton taste..

I tried it again the other day in my KFL and after about 20 minutes, I had to revert back to silica..

Ok, so you tried all the right stuff...taste buds are weird. I can't stand celery. Raw, cooked or celery seeds. To me, it tastes like diesel fumes.

Ya I've been vaping RY4 exclusivley for about 4-years now but I recently (within the last year) have had to special order it because I can't stand Vanilla anymore.. I guess it's not really RY4 now since my special blend has no vanilla in it..

RB, we two are totally opposite (but in the same team ) As with many other observations posted earlier, I Love Cotton, in all its variants.

Rebuildables need patience and dedication. I spent 3 months on my Kayfuns before I gave up, and I am still considering trying out a Taifun.

I actually find the Taifun easier to build than the Kayfun.. Silica wise at least.. 3ea 2mm strands of silica and bam, boom, vape on..

Never a dry hit and and never gurgling.

YMMV with cotton though.

Funny thing is, I traded my KFL for a Spheroid. The woman who got the KFL loved the one she already had, and couldn't get the Spheroid to work.

#1 reason you get leaks in any carto-style atty is not enough wick. With the v2, make sure there is enough cotton in the v2 side slots to completely cover the slots, but avoid using so much cotton that it is packed in, else you get dry hits.

The slots in the ceramic may be too narrow to get the right amount of cotton. The right amount of cotton of the slows will get choked in the ceramic slots. Akdare is testing a ceramic on which she dremeled the ceramic slots to be a bit wider. I build my coil slightly raised above the slots, so the wick passes partway over the slots instead of passing though them. I just rebuilt my v2 in my Billet last night this way, 30g R and 30g NR microcoil at 1.9 ohms, vaped though over a half a tank, zero issues.

It takes a bit of time to get used to the amount, but once you get it right, you will get it right every time.

Just to add
About the negative wire: if your ceramic is loose inside the Divers base just make a loop or "U" in the wire. This helps the ceramic sit tight inside the base.
Use of only res wire: many people said that they dont see major differences i personally think that i take ~20% lower taste. If you dont want make your own non/res wires keep in mind that many-many shops (also in our e-shop) have ready joined wires in very good prices.

I will have to order some non resistance wire then and try it. Because even with another build of more cotton the taste of my Boba's Bounty doesn't quite taste normal for me. However overnight it did not leak. Thank you for your guidance.

I have 3 tanks through my dremeled ceramic with no floods or wicked dry hits. Inside of BB is dry on first 2 tanks, slight moisture on upper back and one side after tank 3. No more than I would get with a carto. I think this is due to the fact that the OD of the brass connector's oring is a little small, allowing a little vapor to escape into the BB.

It's definitely time to rewick, probably should have after 2 tanks; that's a lot of ml to go thru on one wick.

I'll rewick tonight and continue to test...I want to make sure I have this build dialed in, so I can do a pictorial tutorial for everyone.

I certainly don't want to post a solution that works only intermittently, or is not repeatable. We all have enough frustration in our lives, and, I vape to relax, not to add to that frustration.

Mate I too found all the cotton I tasted, tasted like I was vaping anything from a ripped t-shirt to a chemical soaked piece of wool. I really couldn't understand the wave of purported greatness of cotton wool. I hated all six different types I tried.

However, I got some MedLine surgical sterilized cotton and I was converted. I got and continue to not get any taste other than a pure juice. I have used nothing ever since. No need to boil it, no seizing not extra work. Amazing stuff. You should give it a try, for a couple of dollars you will have enough for a year and may find like me, to finally fall for the natural taste of this a MedLine cotton wool.

Opdeemist, you're getting a funny taste due to the hot legs caused by using only R wire. I tried an R-only setup in a v2 the other night, took 2 drags, gagged, and rebuilt with R/NR.

Oh ok, I thought that taste I was getting was due to something. I guess I will have to wait until I can order some non res wire. Thanks for that, hopefully it will all be fixed when I can get some non res wire.
