My intention is to be able to remove the end cap (push in cap) and just slide the battery out. Remember the entire casing would conduct current to one of the needles. No need to remove switched etc. Just a standard battery charger required.
The only time when the two pieces need to be pulled apart is when the coil is replaced.

Sorry to pop in unannouced :p

Just wondering what your source is for the 6mm rope you listed. My source is flaky at best.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi McGyver, you still have that little swiss knife of yours?

I suspect my source for rope will even take longer since it is a small company in South Africa and I'm not sure if they ship to other countries... The smallest quantity you can buy is a 100m roll, shipping will be expensive. Maybe I should buy a roll, cut to pieces and ship wherever.

Oh okay.. If I must....
Wow - thick vape, I can taste... (Didn't put too much in it to start) I am using the normal 510 atty tube with a carto plug.. not too bad if I say so my self - OW OW OW! one of those exploding fireballs of juice just popped right to my tongue... Hmmm not pleasant.....

Okay, swap out 510 atty tube for 510 carto tube and 510 cartridge so there is 5-10 feet between my mouth and the atty.... Hmmm.. nothing... probably too much air.. :)

Okay lets try just the 510 carto tube and plug.. Not to shabby! Hot tube - HOT TUBE! - HOT TUBE!!!

Okay - it's a work in progress.. :D Not too shabby for a first try..
It's right on 2 Ohms running on a standard Nico-Stick at 3.7....

Nice job Bubo,

Ive had popping flashback on my regular 510 atties. i have a metal funnel in the drip tip so it minimises the blow black. still don't know what causes it, maybe to much alcohol (in the juice) and heat. lol some times at night I look like a fire fly.lol
waiting for my wire to come in and playing around with used stuff. Just trying to git some speriance.

So I got this idea... maybe a crazy idea, but hear me out. Boertjie's orginal design (at the beginning of this thread) uses a bottom-fed approach. One of the advantages of this approach it that it makes for a very compact atty. If you attach a cart, you just need a dummy cart with no filler. This got me to thinking... what if you put flavor in the dummy cart, separate from the e-liquid. Here's what I tried: I bought a pack of menthol cigarettes. I quickly tore of the filters and threw that actual cigs away. Don't worry - I didn't smoke any of them. Had no desire for them really. So I put a menthol filter in the dummy cart (I had to cut our the liquid reservoir part of the cart first) and I used some Marlboro e-liquid. Wow, it tasted just like a menthol cig - it really did. You can buy cigarette tubes (with filter and paper) for a couple cents each - this is what people buy that make their own cigarettes. I'm thinking you could soak the filters in your favorite concentrated flavorings and get your flavor separate from the e-liquid, just like I did with the menthol. One of the disadvantages of the 510 is that it's known to get pretty hot and destroy the flavor somewhat. By separating the flavor in an external filter this wouldn't happen.

What do you guys think? Anyone else tried this?

KY, I think you may be onto something here..... Do you still draw through the filter? What does it do to the ease of draw? I've become quite used to an easy draw by now - no more mouthfull draws and then inhale, just straight to the lungs for me now. I used to smoke Craven A menthol cigarettes and miss that lovely menthol flavour. The mint juice just never did it for me, doesn't quite taste the same.... Might have to try this.

Thought I was finished with analogues..... lol

Ah, A filter for my pv. I really like DK Virginia and menthol mixed 50/50 dripped on a attie. Not so good with a 510 or 808 carto seems to loose most of the flavor. Sitting here this morning and testing 8 different cartos for best flavor, I read your post. I took the stuffing out of a dead 510 lr carto. The stuffing comes out in one piece like a filter with a whole in it. I cut off half the length and stuffed it in a drip dip. dripped a couple drops of menthol juice in it, then put it on a carto. Good flavor with no burnt taste and nice warm vapor production with 4.6 volts. If you put to much juice in, it just runs down the sides of the carto to be used in the vaping process. No leaking. Oh, I 'm happy. going to experiment with different juices and flavorings.
I think you have a winner here. :>) May have to start a new thread on it.

When I first got the idea I just taped a menthol filter right onto the end of my e-cig, and wow, it tasted an awful lot like a menthol cig. So then I used my l3oertjie-style atty. I cut the juice reservoir out of a cartridge with an exacto and stuffed a menthol filter in it, and attached it to the l3oertjie-atty. Draw was WAY to hard. So then I peeled the paper off the menthol filter and stuck it back in the cart. This time it worked great and the draw was only a little harder than normal. I'm not really a menthol fan, but I just wanted to see if this works, and it does. Now I want to soak some cig filters in other flavors and see how it goes. I'm thinking about ordering some of these: Premier Cigarette Cigarette Filters|RYOcigarette.com|We carry a variety cigarette filters at sale pricing to roll your own cigarettes at RYOcigarette.com
