Atomizer cleaning?

I seem to remember there were methods of fixing the kind of atomizer degradation that results from a buildup of burnt-on liquid (as opposed to actual burnout where it's completely dead).

I'm sure this info is available in some thread here, but I seem to be having trouble getting good results from the search function. Can someone who's done it successfully give me some pointers on what has worked for them to restore vapor volume and flavor to an atomizer that has degraded? I'd also be fine with some links to existing info.

Some people soak them in isopropyl alcohol for 20-30 mins then let dry overnight.

I use everclear or vodka and do the same thing.

I clean them once a week.

There are a lot of opinions on this but that is what I do.
