What causes an atomizer to burn out?

I have a silver bullet and was using a 801 atty. I kept the atty always wet since I'm using a cart, not dripping. It worked well with both 3.7v and 6v. But then, when using the 6v, it just went dead! I tried my 510 and 901 attys on it and they worked fine. I guess the high volts of the battery fried the lead into the atomizer. I don't know. Could use some advice.

Thanks

Here is a quick chart I came up with for optimum voltage based on a 6.5 watt throughput.

At 6 volts of power based on an 801's 3.8 resistance factor you are in affect pushing 9.5 watts of power at it. Higher watts means a shorter life span. Since quality is not the same in all attys, you could get one to last a month or it could last a couple minutes.
Just as a side note at 6 volts the 901 is handling 10.9 watts and the 510 is at a whopping 17.1 watts being pushed at them. I would limit the 6 volts to the 801 which should handle it better than the 901 or the 510. Just remember these are like light bulbs sooner or later when you flick the switch they will short out.
I hope this has helped.
