I like 510 hardware, so far it seems pretty bullet proof. However, I think I have noticed something after using it for a week that I have seen mentioned once or twice here at ECF.

The problem I am running into is that I fear the 510 atty is doing my flavors a disservice. I Love the way the 510 hits, at 3.7v and a std atty I am satisfied, and the vapor generation is all I could ask for. I am just constantly freshening up my carts because long before I've drained one I feel like I am vaping warm, relatively flavorless vapor. I got my first drip tip last night, a delrin shorty, and I already like it better than using a cartridge. I am the sort of person who takes pride in creating recipes from scratch and writing them down in a blank journal I have...been doing that for over 20 years. I guess I have a more sensitive palate than most people, so while this flavor issue isn't a deal breaker for me, it really does bother me.

I realize the various hardware is going to have its adherents, but do the 801, 901 or 4081 do as good a job as the 510 does creating a convincing replication of smoking without stepping on the flavor of your juice? I just have a feeling that the 510 burns the flavor off before the juice is gone. Hope to hear your thoughts, thanks

it all depends...some flavors do better with a hotter atty and some with a cooler running one...

all being equal on a actual 3.7V battery the LR atties are hottest, then the joye 510 at 2.2Ω, the 306 at 2.5Ω, the 510 knock offs and 801 at 3.5Ω, and the 901 at 3.7Ω... as your atty resistance goes up the vape gets a little cooler but some say more flavorful if you're vaping delecate or complex flavors....

I'd say try out a shortie 801 though...(which was the original penstyle) which has a bigger bridge so you don't lose a lot of your vapor production.. like these: IKV HV 801 3.5

Well, if you like the 510, but want more flavor out of your juice, I recommend giving the 902 a try. It gives you all the vapor of a 510, with the flavor of a 901. And the best part is, it is threaded for the 510, so no need to go out and buy new batteries, and if you have mods with a 510 connector, you're all set. You can find the 902 at ModernVapor, and at Revolver (it's the Infiniti Ion there).

I think it would definitely be worth buying an atty or two and trying it out.

That is a great suggestion and I will definitely try one of those. Thanks man

mlankton, if you have any sort of eGo style battery (they have 510 threads), throw in a xl eGo cartomizer the next time you buy juice from fsusa. These have the wide whistle tip and unlike other cartomizers I can taste nothing but the flavors of the juice. Sorry, I just am not sure what hardware you're using or if these would work for you, but I love them!

Myself, I keep two pv's set up, and I'm using an inferno set I picked up at Volcano (also 510 atty). One I keep the xl cartomizer on, and the other I use the cisco (306) atty with a delrin drip tip. The cisco atty gets very hot but I love the th I get with it and it works great for strong flavors, though not so great for mild ones.

That cisco atty I posted the link to above will work with the 510. It hits like nothing else I've tried. Pretty sure you can find that sold at lots of other places, volcano just happens to be where I buy much of my stuff (plus they threw in the drip tip with the cost of the atty) :)

I don't know if the design has changed, but the 902 atties that I have from Modern Vapor will NOT fit on my 510 batteries because of a brass lip at the battery end. The 510 atties will fit a 902 battery, but not the other way around. I suppose it would be possible to grind the lip off, and then use them.

A 306 atty might be a good choice to try. I find them cooler than my 510s, with very good flavor and vapor, even if a little less throat hit. The one real downside is that the cartridges hold almost nothing. But they fit a 510 just fine.

The 902 probably wouldn't be a problem, I use a Copper.

See, where I got my 306, it was suggested best use for the 306 was dripping. At this point in my vaping history, I pretty much just experiment and follow instructions so as not to burn anything up! lol

Ok, so the definitive answer is that the 902 will not fit a 510 battery? I have an EGO and was looking to try different cartomizers on it... I know some like the 306...have not tried anything other than 510 on it, thus far.

The 510 is a bit airy to me. I agree that it loses some flavor. For instance, the 4081 taste I like a lot.

Hello there Vapentein, I also am a very heavy vaper. Mostly Vaperite juices. I only use LRcisco attys 306,510 and 901.
I find I need to use the LR901 for the vaperite and any other VG juices. That produces the best and smoothest flavors. The LR 510 and reg. 510 (I still have some) ruins the juice. Note I have not been able to try a Cisco LR801 and I do not like a LR801 2.0either and never use carts or cartomizers. That ruins the juice further IMO. Just my 2 cents
