After gradually building up my stock of atomizers for the M401, I am finding a wide degree of difference in perfomance even though they all look like the same type. The original one I bought from absolutely still has the best and most consistent hit, but the draw is like sucking a milkshake through a coffee stirrer. A lot of the others have easier draw and good perfomance, but there are a few that just produce no vapor or hit. I am not able to draw any conclusions as to certain vendors having better performing attys.

My real frustration came today as I started using an atty from ruyan that I had drained and set aside for a week. Before that I had been using it for a week or two and it was performing great. Today it's barely so-so, making me wonder if it's something I'm doing.

Has anyone else noticed these variations or found a way to overcome them?

In my experience, JD is absolutely correct. Screw around with the filler in your cart and make sure that it touches the bridge. I use a needle to pull the filler up level or even a little above the lip of the cart itself. The bridge doesn't get nearly as hot as I thought it did when I first got it, and i firmly believe that when people notice reduced filler in their carts, it's not that some is melting, it's that you're losing a few fibers here and there as you fill and screw around, and the rest is getting compacted into the cart from the weight of the liquid. Denser fill means less liquid and greater chance of missing contact, making for reduced performance.

EDIT: Wanted to add that I don't find dripping or dipping to work as well as I thought that it would. I really think that the atomizers function best when liquid is constantly wicking through it. There's some kind of capillary action going on that feeds that coil and gives you the right burn. If you aren't wicking into it you're disrupting that flow and getting varied performance.

I got to thinking that this problem had to be associated with the wick not wicking. I blew out every nook and cranny with a small air compressor and it really seemed to help. THis atty is back to full strength now. I'm thinking that if the S/S wick material is too dense or clogged, it probably just won't transfer as much juice to the coil.
