I pulled off the stickers and opened the sucker up about a half hour ago. Couldn't see anything of interest...just a ton of wires and hot glue and epoxy (white and yellow). I pulled the 510 pin up a little bit with some ceramic tweezers and tried all of my clearos on it. Still nothing, keeps reading "check atomizer". I'm REALLY bummed out about this. I know its a $80 mod and I shouldnt be...but I was going to purchase my first rda on Friday and I was SUPER excited to try out my first build on the clone. Oh well, hopefully this will help someone else avoid what just happened to me.
But still I've verified it has short protection and should just say shorted if outer thread was touching center pin
Yeah I'm not understanding why it's not displaying "shorted" I intentionally shorted it without frying it.... I've also used a clearo with a pin that was less than flush and again said shorted...
Does the Cana's with the later firmware not say "short" when shorted?
A number of posts ago, someone posted about the 510 connector, the way it was designed and how it's wired into the box and how they felt it was extra cheap and should be replaced. Could that low quality pin be causing the stuck check atty issue? In other words would replacing it with a higher quality 510 connector fix broken ones or prevent the error on others?

My device did not display "short" or anything of the sort before it crapped out
Just to reiterate, once I screwed the Aerotank Mega onto the device the screen went black and all that was showing was the battery icon. After I took the battery out and back in the screen went back to normal and the device could no longer read any atomizer. I have a feeling that the threading on the Mega's pin made contact with the pin in the Cana mod. This shorted the device and made it unusable.
I found this on Facebook from elev8vapes.

i been reading up on reddit that the 510 is fairly bigger on the cana, while the auth and other mods have a smaller pin. this seems like it could cause some problems.
I emailed elev8 Saturday evening about my 14xx black order, and they told me they had just packed it and it would ship Monday morning. They sent me a tracking number 30 minutes later. Tracking number didn't change until today, with an origin scan in New York. They either lied to me about having it, or they left it sitting in their shop for 4 days. Either way, I'm won't be ordering from them again. I know everyone here is raving about their customer service, but it didn't come through in my situation.
I am kinda confused, am I going to have trouble using my russian 91 on this clone? can I blow up my device?
to all (even the seasoned vets);
be sure any atomizer to be used on the cana has a positive post/pin that visually protrudes out the bottom.
do not overtighten the atomizer past snug using just two fingers.
Just an informational post....read on Gotvapes site...they have given the clone a different name but here is what they mentioned after testing for a few days:
Max Wood, GotVapes CS Manager Obervations on the Orbit30
Hi Gang! Woody here!
I have been testing this unit for several days now and I am thoroughly impressed with this unit. I have run it with a Kayfun with 1.4 and 1.7 ohm coils on it and have run an Aqua on it with dual coils at .6 and 1.0 ohm. It blasts clouds of vapor! With the .1 watt increments you can really taylor it to your perfect vape! I have run it at 28w with the Aqua and a .6ohm coil and it was amazing! I do want to point out one thing, this is made for experienced vapers with knowledge of the interactions of Power, Voltage and Resistance. It is not meant for the new vaper as they could get very overwhelmed trying to operate it. It is indeed a very advanced device! Other that that I love this unit!
Please NOTE: We will warranty these for 7 days. Please be aware we have to provide our own warranty service as the manufacturer does not allow us one. Please be careful with this unit. It is very dependent on the internal DNA chip and this can get fried via a number of ways including accidentally using it as a pass-through without the battery inside or hooking this up to charge and forgetting to place a battery inside. We have to be very strict as these are very expensive to stock and we do not have a high margin on these.
