Does anyone know what the amp limit is on the DNA30 clone? I think the Evolv DNA30 has a 10 amp limit. If the clone is the same, there is no real need for 30 amp batteries.

But, most of my 18650s are about 10 months old and may need replacing soon. 2500 mAh (LG or Efest) or 2600 mAh (vtc5) batteries would be an improvement over my current 10 amp 2250 mAh (Panasonic) batteries. And, I could also use the 30 amps on my occasional sub-ohm cloud chasing adventures.

Yes, the evolv dna 30 pulls 10amps (according to spec sheet). So, a sony vtc is overkill for just that mod. Although it's a great all around choice if u have mech mods.

I agree with everything you said:toast:

I currently have 3 types of 18650s. 3400mAh protected (not sure of the amp limit) Panasonics for my flashlights. 10a unprotected 2250mAh Panasonic form my regulated mods. And, MNKE 1500mAh.

I have seen the MNKEs listed as 20a and 30a so I don't really know what they are. I am playing it safe, 0.45 ohm is the lowest I have gone.

If I bought some 30a batteries, I could replace the old 10a Panasonics and sell the fairly new MNKEs

MNKE's are 20a continuous. Perfectly safe to use where you are at resistance wise.

Hi all,

I'm NOT looking to start a debate or insult anyone... Just an fyi.

Recreating a "chip" like a DNA 30 is not remotely difficult.

It regulates a battery, increases/ decreases power, and puts out a display. This is very basic engineering.

It's quality is another question, however these are being mass produced. So, likely done by a combination of robotic tech and humans. Both of which produce a ton of electronics. The result will be consistent. China builds the world's most advanced electronics. Whatever you're reading this on right now as a matter of fact.

I don't get why people think Hana did something so special. They machine an aluminum box, add a DNA they bought, add a couple wires and buttons they bought from China and... That's it. The fact they can't put out enough is either lack of desire or ineptitude.

The person who created the DNA 30 used undergraduate level knowledge and had probably created many boards since or moved on to other things and hadn't thought about this basic thing s/he created.

This isn't proprietary knowledge, lol. It's not stealth technology, it's a freaking simple chip and does something quite basic.

Let's have some perspective.

For those that don't like clones, I hope you have enough perspective to know that's what a free market creates.

If you don't like a free market, that's cool, but that's not capitalism or democracy. Hell I wish we had socialized medicine, so I'm not getting all stars and bars, just saying.

From Evolv web site.....

Our patent pending power regulation designs allow the user to automatically regulate power thus producing unmatched consistency and usability

A lot of talk about the china knockoff.....I'm waiting for some comparison test data comparing the dna and the china knock off....

FYI......the wiring shown on VJ's pics are not exactly like the dna... namely the grey wire...

The Sony vtc 5 is ideal. Not for the amp rating, the 2600 mah. I will be using them due to the longer battery life between charges

we really won't know until someone tests these particular chips but, pbusardo has tested the 20w and 22w versions and said they perform very similarly to the DNA 20.
A PBusardo Review & Contest - The Sigelei 20W (SX200) - YouTube Test results start around the 26 minute mark.
A PBusardo Review & Contest - The Seven 22 - YouTube Test results start around 19:30

That is why I ordered 3 pairs from MBV early this morning. Don't forget coupon code VaporIsInTheAir for 13% off.

So you think these chips are from the same MFG that Sigelei got them from?

Yea I have to say my vtc5 are simply the best I've ever tried! My .6 ohm build on my kayfun lasts all day and then some. I have not actually let it get to the point where I really feel a batt drop off, I always charge before it gets to that point. I'm sure these will perform perfectly in our clones.

May I ask how did you set up the Kayfun to get it at .6 ohms?

I run mine at .8 with 4 wraps of twisted 30 Awg on a 5/64ths drill bit.

I'm sure I could easily get to .6 with one less wrap.

The only thing is getting those twisted wrap builds under the tiny screws on my Kayfun is a pain.

Tell me about it!!

I just set up a veritcal coil and it gives me awesome flavor, but it is a PITA to get it to set. What sucks is sometimes I'll get it set, test fire it, then screw on everything and a few minutes later I get the check atomizer reading and realize it came lose. You can't really go any lower than 28 gauge wire on that .....

I just ordered some 24 gauge Kanthal, would that work to lower my ohms? Currently I think I'm doing about 5 wraps of 28 gauge around a 1/16 drill bit and am getting around 1 ohm.

Yes, with 24 ga you can do more wraps at less ohms! More surface area with a hotter coil makes a tasty vape.
