Have you compared the price of an MVP2 and one of these clones lately? And unlike the MVP these clones have removable batteries which can be easily replaced when they go bad.

I know in the past the general mindset has been that these high powered box mods are for extreme users, but times are changing. Many newbies now are starting with Ego Spinners, MVP2s, and other VV mods, and these clones are dangerously close to them in price. It's just a matter of time before you start seeing 30 watt mods as the norm and being bought by total newbies.

11 Watt MVP2 or 30 Watt DNA30 clone with replacable batteries for just $10-$15 more?

I am also say an amateur user moving up with bigger and better things, I think this is a safe bet to change things up. I am moving from an MVP, but have no desire to vape on my cana with a kanger pro tank, drippers and rtas.

What I dont get is why are so many people using these with clearos?

Been thinking about this too. In my head I see it as these 30w devices are on a higher caliber/difficulty than a clearo. Then again, this is a super popular device and there are tons of people jumping on the "cool kids" bandwagon.

I don't have any RTAs or RBAs, just clearos. Why WOULDNT you want to purchase one of these if you're only using clearos? Any clearo using novice understands that when the time comes for an RDA...you already have a device that is ready to take that journey with you. Unfortunately mine is dead, but Raj from Wet Vapes was kind enough to send a new one out to me.

Get a zmax or a vamo then.

You are taking a gamble though for little benefit. Removable battery means nothing if these boards crap out in a month. MVPs can crap out quickly BUT generally they go for quite a while before dying.

We dont know what the longevity of these clones will be. Obviously I am hoping they will last a good long while.

This is really the only reason that makes sense to me, it keeps the door open.

This is what my GF wants me to believe anyways, as now she wants me to buy her one

may i ask your order number and the day you ordered? been waiting on a blue from them since april. :/

I ordered 12th Apr 2014.
My order number is 2179.
I just got it. I love how small it is. The red is great. I tried my tobh atty clone from infinite on it and if you have one you know how the copper pin sits down lower then most. It will not sit flush. I looked through the red window. Right were the 510 is and I can see a ton of either epoxy or hot glue. I really don't like the 510 and it looks like the adjustable 510 from fatdaddyvapes will fit in there but if I mess with it and open it, then I have no recourse for getting it fixed by cloupor if it messes up soon. But I may do it anyways because I can always through a real dna in there but I will have to clean up and remove epoxy which is a ...... Might have to dremel it out of there. For today, I am not messing with it and will see how it goes. So far it read my .5 tobh at ,5 and my 1.9 kayfun at 1.9. It seems to be doing everything perfectly fine as of now. Also back door seems to be perfectly in line. No issue with screws, not a scratch or ding and everything but my tobh does sit flush and even. So for the money as of now I am happy. I may not mess with the 510 unless it fries. I may also be able to sand down my tobh center pin as I have no clue why they have it sticking out so far.

Also just ordered my clear carbon fiber jwrap. $14.80 after 20off coupon. I hate to cover this beautiful red aluminum anodizing up but its such a fingerprint magnet and I don't want to scratch it up. Although I have a huge sheet of carbon fiber vinyl sitting here I am using to try to do my sx350 mod with from scratch because they don't have my custom mod of course. But for this I can get it pre cut so I will. Cost is high in comparison but half of the work is done for me so..

GUH. vapor tek kinda dropped the ball on this pre order IMO, im order number 34XX so who knows how much longer it will be, kinda upsetting when you see people buying ones of the same color and having them ship the next day. might just cancel and order from wetvapes at this point...

he-he......as one of "those from the past" these were not "high powered mods for extreme users".....the variable wattage devices were/are a means to get a "more consistent" vape experience throughout the life of a battery charge and they automatically adjust to different ohm ratings. Kinda like the difference between a manual and an automatic transmission.... to me the extreme users are the rda, rba, etc. users....but that's what makes vaping so subjective....to each his own...whatever "trips your trigger" is what is best for you....

Meh, I understand your point somewhat. It is frustrating but imo, it's not vaporteks fault. They are shipping what they are getting. They didn't drop the ball cloupor is just sending out the way they see fit. Vaportek I am sure wants to get the color's to people just like everyone else. I could have gotten black a lot earlier but probably like you I hung in there and waited for the red. It's up to you. You could cancel your order and order through wetvapes. I am not sure what round you were in but I had gotten in on round 1 and it took alot longer then I though but I knew vaportek would get it to me when they got it in. I have bought from them many times in the past. They always take care of people. I have seen them do things about bad products they received from manufactures that some other places would never do. John there has always been great to deal with.

Just experienced a very troubling glitch.

My Cana was sitting on my desk charging. I looked at the battery meter and said "good enough." Tossed on an atty and took a quick vape, but then I noticed there was nothing on the screen!

Odd since I never use stealth mode, and here is where it gets even stranger, the Cana would fire, but would not lock OR power up or down. Would not change modes, and all while NOT displaying anything.

So I figured maybe give it a reset and pull the battery. Well when I reinstalled the battery NOTHING at all for almost a minute, then out of nowhere the screen displayed the lock message and now all is back to normal!

So I have two things on my agenda now

- contact Elev8

- purchase genuine DNA30 chip and dust off the old soldering iron

Update:
20 minutes later

screen is dead again and it only fires.
no lock, no nothing

Does USPS tracking just suck? My order from wetvapes shipped on Monday and that's the only update I have when I put in my tracking number.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

If your order is sourced from New Your then that is SOP.....all my orders from there don't update till it reaches my post office....must be normal for New Yorkers....my best guess....

You missed the point.

The implication was made that these are ONLY for rda , rba, etc... users, NOT retail clearos.

Sure VV mods were made for a more consistent vape, but until this past year or so they were limited to 15 watts max. Not what an RBA/RDA user would considered "high powered" by any stretch of the imagination.

That might be what I end up doing. I wonder if the fact that they put so much epoxy/glue all over the place and might have slapped these together quickly or if they just used super crappy quality clone chips. Either way, mine is working for now but when or if it does crap out. I will be replacing it with real chip for sure as I can solder. But I know its going to be fun ripping everything out of it. If I do that I know it will be alot better quality and done right. I have actually everything I need to do it but the chip atm. Hell I may just order a chip now and I already have 3 buttons that are the same and fdv 510 sitting here. I love the form factor and everything about the case so much.Hell I might even rip out the crappy battery holder and put in a keystone I have sitting here. lol just do it all the way it should be done imo.

To be clear...these are not just for rba, rda, etc.....they can be used with all kinds of atty's/carto's, tanks, clearo's, etc....heck I've used VW 12,20,30 watts and all work great and I do not use rda, rba......

And another update on my crapping out Cana - still no display but now it locked on its own. It did unlock, but will not re-lock

Didn't you get your just like 2 days ago or recently? Also what atty are you using with it? And how high are you vaping (i.e. wattage setting).
