I've been alternating two attys for the past 8 or so days.

I blow them out, rinse in hot water and place them mesh side down on a paper towel to dry on a nightly basis.

This morning it was chugging along.. but after a dozen or so vapes, it went cold. Doesn't even get warm when I blow into the battery's LED side. Wondering if my using of a passthrough had contributed to its early demise.

I have it soaking in hot water at the moment and want to ask the experts here how I should try to revive it. Is it a goner? Or can I do something to revive it?

I know that there is a gazillion threads on how to clean them but this one is cold.

All I can do is wish you luck - I've not had any success reviving one that's completely cold.
I held a funeral and everything:D

Maybe it's an issue of too much maintenance. I only clean mine when I sense a "burnt" taste. 2 months now on the same atomizer. I have 5 spares, and will reorder when I get down to 3.

I lost 3 atomizers in less then a week using a passthrough. I don't hear this happening to everyone, but I pretty much do think it's luck of the draw on which passthrough you get and which atty you get and if either dies. This stuff made in China can be very touchy and inconsistent in performance it seems. I am quite sure one of my passthroughs killed my 3 attys. so I sent it back. I've heard others using the same passthrough and atty for 3 months, so who knows!

Thanks for all the replys.

I don't have a multimeter, so I can't check if it's on conscience or fatally wounded.

I do the nightly maintenance thing because I don't want my attys to get that black sooty buildup that I've been reading so much about.

OK, maybe a little less maintenance on my other attys and possibly a simple funeral. Say a prayer. I'll bury it in a jar until....

My experience is if an atty turns belly up it's a goner. But... Others have said they've been able to revive them. From letting it sit there a few days and then all of a sudden it starts working again to trying all the various cleaning methods found on this forum.

Though it could be...

That the battery is not making full contact anymore. If your battery is working with other attys it's probably ok. You could try pulling the terminal nipple on the atty's battery end to see if it makes better contact. If you do this, do it gently as you could pull it out completely and break it. Finding something to do this with is the hard part.

I use a defective push pin that has a bent tip on the pin's end. You could possibly grab it with a good pair of tweezers or a very small needle nose tool. Good luck.

No, it can't be that the battery isn't making contact with the atty.

I'm using a usb passthrough..popped a new atty onto it and its vaping fine.

Just wondering if I fried it with the passthrough...

Going to let it sit for a while and see what happens.

Anyway, I said a prayer, put it in a casket (jar) and put it away for the future(?) Unfortunately, the jar can occupy many occupants..so I'm sure he won't be alone throughout my vaping life.

My vote is for an extra atty in a starter kit as this seams too be a big problem. I know it would cost a little more, but have we lost people because the atty burned out right away. I guess a suppliers need to balance it out. Cost vis keeping a newbe.

A few of them do that already. e-smokeytreats comes to mind off the top of my head, but I know I've seen others.

One atty is fine for someone just trying it out, but I'd like to see bigger better kits for people who know what they're buying. Like a kit with 3 or 4 batteries and attys, a passthrough and empty carts.

I didn't mean to to suggest it could only be the battery or passthrough itself.. Your atty might not be making contact with the passthrough. Sorry if my words were conflicting or unclear.

This particular atomizer may not be making contact with your usb passthrough. I have "one" atomizer that I have to pull the connector (on the atomizer) whenever I want to use it. It doesn't matter if it's with a battery or a usb passthrough.

Because of this I rarely use that one. But when I do it never fails that I have to slightly pull on the terminal end of the atomizer to make it work. Then it will vape fine until I disconnect it. In this case it is the atomizer, not the battery or passthrough.

By the way, my defunct atty worked fine for the first week I had it. Then it just didn't work at all. At someone else's suggestion I tried pulling on the terminal and it worked.

It's only a suggestion and is probably not the solution in your case. Just tossing what I have experienced your way... ;)

I agree.
Some starter kits come with extra batteries, why not extra atomizers. Batteries do go bad but I don't think as quickly as an atomizer.

Wouldn't it be nice to customize our starter kits..like skad said, bigger better kits for people in the know.

Customized starter kits...hint, hint..to all the suppliers.

Oh,BTW, ritalee76..I'm going to give that a try..what do I have to loose?

i think we have been making to much of a fuss over these little DISPOSABLE atomizers , i have never made such a big deal over keeping an $8-$10 item alive beyond it's usefulness. My penstyle atomizer died the other day , after 3ish weeks of use , no preventative maintenance , no cleaning , blowing , draining nothing... and the only reason it died was because one of my batteries went "supernova" ala the bada-bing , where the battery activates and stays on burning out the atomizer. these things are designed to be used for a month .. maybe 2 or 3 at the most and then replaced

My daily used,cruddy,2 month old one still works like a champ.A spare I bought didnt last a week.
And when that one died, it went from great to DEAD from one drag to the next.

But your right GrimmGreen. If im getting a few weeks to a month at least from a 10 buck hunk of tin, im satisfied. If stores carried them,i'd be even more forgiving as ordering online is less convienent for me.

Ok Lika, I'll try that one also. Got to wait till it dries.

The funny thing is, it just passed away suddenly. Never even gave me a clue that it was sick.

It looks brand new. No crud or build up whatsoever.
