so this one really is for the Australian vapers; importing of nicotine juice.

As far as I know - customs gets suspicious on bringing in over 3 months supply which makes buying in bulk possibly hazardous, but is there a definitive limit on the amount?

Given I’m starting vaping I was going to bring in approximately 3 months supply but if the 30mL bottle I have is any indication then 30mL is not even going to last me a week. Anyone have any advice on the importing?

Hi @escapetovape. I live in Australia too and as you know, there are different rules for different states. I have been vaping since September 2017 and I have imported nicotine several times with no trouble.

As you stated, the 'rule' is 3 months - not for supply - but for 'personal' use. This is then widely open to interpretation. If you vape 50ml a week then order 600ml. If you vape 100ml then order 1200ml - and so on.

I think the main thing is not to go over the top and place a really huge order....that would just draw the crabs....but if you keep your orders at a reasonable size then you will be fine.

Thanks for that, you’re right, I’m gauging my response for the first week and my next order will be based off that.

You will be fine I am sure. I haven't heard or read of anyone who has had an order seized as yet. If we all order with some common sense we will be ok.

Initially I imported premixed e juice but more recently I imported 100mg nicotine base to use for DIY juice and bought the PG/VG and flavourings locally. Saves a heap on shipping costs. Maybe this is something you could look in to down the track?

Honestly yes i would want to make my own, still wrapping my head around the whole PG/VG mixing ratios, so far I’ve only had premixed 50:50, but the premix I’m getting is 77VG:23PG which I hear is smoother.

The other thing I need to get a better understanding of is ratio of nicotine, I’m buying my mates gear as he just quit vaping but used to mix his own as well which will be a start.

Guessing if I get lost I can come on here as well

Thanks for the help as well :)

I hope that your juice order isn't turned back but I don't see a ton of complaints on that around Australia.

Definitely, once you get in gear for DIY, hang around and ask questions, lots of folks with a lot of experience under their belts and willing to be helpful to a new DIY er.

As to your experience; is it much cheaper than buying premade?

Well... here in Germany it's 4€-5€ for 10ml of ready made liquid and it costs me about 0.20-0.30€ to make 10ml.
Don't know what 10ml cost in your local "vape-o" (or whatever australians call vape shops ;) ) but the savings should be substantial.

We just call them tobacconists usually. But now there’s just general vape stores.

To import it’s about $20 for 30-60ml of Nic juice premade. Here we can only buy premade or ingredients (minus Nic). So from that aspect it is looking like it will be much cheaper.

Yes, it has higher startup costs, but it is definitely cheaper than (most) storebought, by a wide margin. It's also nice to be able to customize your own flavors. I enjoy the cost savings (it may be different amount of cost savings depending on your location) but most of all, I like that I can totally customize my juice.

Since I am PG sensitive and also use PEG400 and distilled water in my vape, something I would be infinitely unlikely to find unless dealing with a custom juice maker, that doesn't hurt either. Although mainly, I prefer my own recipes to storebought, especially now my tastebuds are back! I enjoy making my own juice far more than vaping what I now consider "chemical tasting" and "overflavored."

Best of luck whatever you decide!
