As we all know, there are some 1.1 clones coming out of China that clone right down to the original manufacturers logo on the tube ... The "Caravela" clone was really a good example of this, as the Chinese Caravela clone even had "Pedros" signature engraved on the tube just like the original.

It's obvious that the Chinese have no conscience in cloning items that were originally made in other countries.

My question is ... Will Chinese also clone items when the original was actually made in China, or do they stop at that?

Case in point .... All the various "Kanger" clearomizers .... KangerTech is a Chinese company which designs and manufactures all it's various clearomizers (IE: AeroTank) in China. Kanger does NOT clone anything.

Since the Kanger clearomizers are very popular worldwide, are there other Chinese companies cloning cheap 1.1 Chinese knockoffs of the Kanger clearomizers (right down to including the Kanger logos on the fake knockoff of the Kanger clearomizer) ?

I am thinking that these Chinese companies that actually manufacture the various clones will stop at cloning there own countrymans devices (too close to home to get KangerTech angry with you)!

What do you think ...

A quick google search seems to reveal that the Kanger EVOD's and Protanks have been cloned. Not sure beyond that.

LOL, no.

Good. There is plenty of entertainment to be had watching someone continue a debate that they can't win. Especially when they don't realize that it's completely unnecessary to type out their name at the end of every post knowing that their name is already pasted on the left of the screen.

Finally someone said something about that lol. I see a lot of trilby wearing betas (sorry, other forums coming to mind here) doing that sort of thing. Maybe he thinks it's proper or something?

Hmm -- don't know about which mods are creating all this discussion, but there are patents on mods, not just the PCB's. Buzz and his buck circuit vv vaporizing tube and Reosmods, a "mech", btw. There are other applications on file at the Patent office.

Has Reo been cloned? It would seem to me those that have some sort of IP protection are receiving it.

If they are simply metal tubes, why copy the exact design of another?
People who used to smoke and know $200 is nothing compared to how much smoking costs...

True yet it doesn't have to be. You can use that anology in anything about life. It is silly from my prospective to even bring that up. Heck go buy yourself an otto carver or 2 because well you will still save money vs smoking.

Engraving doesn't do anything for me; neither do mech mods, other than PV-1s... I don't know how one who smoked suddenly can't afford to buy something which costs less than several months of smoking...

Yes, but when buying cigarettes it's over time. $5 here and there every few days. Yes it adds up, but when you smoke (at least for me) I didn't see it that way. But dropping $200 at once on something? It steers people away. Just because people are saving money by not smoking doesn't mean they want to spend what they would have spent on cigarettes on mods and stuff.

Possibly the need to reallocate those savings for the costs of day to day living?

You're missing the point. A lot of people quit smoking not only to be healthy, but to save money. What's the point in that if you're just going to blow $200 on a metal tube? I don't see the value in a $200 metal tube with some pretty designs on it. I'll happily pay $40 for the exact same tube, because that's what I see it as worth. I don't need a mech mod, I'm more than happy with my MVP2. But when I want another mech, it's going to have to be something pretty damn special to convince me to drop $200/

No, you completely misunderstand the Chinese. It's not a matter of conscience at all!

Consider the basic tenet of communism:
"From each according to his abilities. To each according to his needs".

It is a profoundly-held moral belief in China that one's highest responsibility is to his country. These beliefs have been very deeply cultured and reinforced throughout the lifetime of every Chinese citizen alive (and is virtually identical to the culture going back thousands of years, the only difference being "Country" vs. "Feudal Lord"). Those who thought differently (and publicly expressed their views) were given the benefit of an all-expense paid extended vacation at a nearby (NOT) "Re-education camp".

If one manufacturer comes up with a better product or process, it is not only allowed, but actually considered a responsibility to incorporate this improvement into other factories. The original inventor doesn't have a right to his idea, it belongs to the state. (And of course, the ideas of non-chinese inventors fall into the same category).

To look at it as a lack of morality or integrity on the part of the Chinese is to view their actions through a completely unfair perspective. Their behavior comes from a completely different set of beliefs than ours.

smokinGAVIN ...

That is very true ... A US company designs a product and then contracts a legitimate Chinese manufacturing company to manufacture the product to the US companies specification, right down to putting the US companies logo on the product. Even has the Chinese company supply the box the product comes in ... then sends the completed product in bulk to the US for sale though authorized US distributors.

Happens all the time. I guess we call this "outsourcing" ... farming out the actual manufacturing of US products to other countries in order to save money.
___________________________

[But] when a "rogue" Chinese manufacturer somehow gets a hold of a US companies authentic "boutique" mechanical mod for instance ... and then just flagrantly copies it (even to include authentic logos on it), and then sells the product through some Chinese internet middleman (such as FastTech) for sale back in the US .... that is just wrong.

And, unfortunately, the original US manufacturer don't even know this is happening until they stumble upon this Chinese 1.1 clone of there mech tube mod somewhere on the internet. And in most cases, this US company don't even know what the actual name of the Chinese company who is manufacturing this fake item, since many of these clones don't even have the actual name of the unauthorized Chinese manufacturer written on the box.

I may be wrong, but to me, I think China is really about the only country on the face of the earth that is really doing most of this "in your face cloning".
___________________________

But you can't blame the consumer for buying these fakes, as long as the fake is as good of quality as the original, but at a much cheaper price.

I just feel kinda bad for the original US manufacturer when this happens (even if his authentic product is overpriced)

Yup ... those "crafty" Chinese will get ya every time! :D

Electronic cigarette - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://www.ecigarettedirect.co.uk/a...w-inventor-e-cigarette-herbert-a-gilbert.html

http://www.google.com/patents/US3200819

The earliest electronic cigarette can be traced to Herbert A. Gilbert, who in 1963 patented a device described as "a smokeless non-tobacco cigarette" that involved "replacing burning tobacco and paper with heated, moist, flavored air". This device heated the nicotine solution and produced steam. It was never commercialized

Hon Lik, a Chinese pharmacist, is credited with the invention of the electronic cigarette.[75][76] In 2003,[77] he came up with the idea of using a piezoelectric ultrasound-emitting element to vaporise a pressurized jet of liquid containing nicotine diluted in a propylene glycol solution.[78] This design produces a smoke-like vapour that can be inhaled and provides a vehicle for nicotine delivery into the bloodstream via the lungs. He also proposed using propylene glycol to dilute nicotine and placing it in a disposable plastic cartridge which serves as a liquid reservoir and mouthpiece.

E-cigs were around in the 50's as a means to deliver medication. The Chinese had nothing to do with that. You seem a bit misinformed.

Ok, I guess I should have said most of us would not own ecigs had it not been for China's products/clones. We all can't shell out $150+ for an "American made" mod or atomizer.

So says the owner of a REO Grand with a link to the mod-maker's site in their sig... :p But, that's different, right? You must be posting about the masses of destitute vapers in general... ;)

Yes, the Chinese clone their own companies stuff... Happens all the time. For our use, Kanger and especially Aspire Nautilus come to mind.
