automatic cut off?

hello everyone i have another question im still new obviously, but i have done a little research on why after about a 5 second drag my led blinks. I found a couple websites saying that some e-cigarettes have an automatic cut off to prevent from overheating, i have a nebula from vapornine and i was wondering if that was the case with my battery.

Is it this one? Nebula Express Starter Kit it's cheap enough anyway :D

Yes, a lot of ecigs have a cutoff and it depends on the manufacturer or model how long the cutoff is. It tends to be 5 seconds for a smaller ecig.

I'm pretty sure the v4l ones have a 10 second cutoff if you want to stick with a cigarette sized ecig: Vapor King E-Cigarette Starter Kits

You'd probably want to look into an ego or riva or something that's 650mAh+ though, as you'll get a much longer run time between charges. The v9 one looks like a decent starter pack but you'll likely want something a bit better.

yeah thats the onei got the deluxe starter kit though and i had a problem with one of the batteries and they sent me out two replacements it does the trick for me at this point in time it is pretty cheap but it is very good quality compared to a few that i have tried. i just used my phone to time it and it takes about 7.5 seconds thank you for the help! i was confused because id take it off the charger and after a couple puffs id take a longer one and it would blink but that helped me alot thanks again.

Yes and for future reference it's known as a "pen" style PV. That's why it's recommended to purchase manual batts- less prone to damge from juice and gives the vaper greater control over the vaping experience
i know im new and i dont want to sound rude but no it is not a "pen" style i have seen pen styles and mine is not one of them

You have a mini-auto battery model which is the "bottom of the pile" in PV performance.

Remember this:

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Move to a better model, such as an E-Power 510 or Kgo (both around $40 - $55), with manual batteries and your vaping experience, performance-wise, will improve dramatically.

I disagree, you can get some really good performance from analog style PVs like the volt. Not everyone wants a bigger model like an E-Power or Kgo. I think it's best to respect the requests of the person and answer their question first, then offer other routes if they may want a different model in the future, but not to tell them they need to do something.

Top end Kr808D-1 models are regulated to 3.6v. An ego is 3.2v. You actually get a better performance (just from the battery's output perspective) out of a kr808d-1 than you do for an ego. Performance is subjective though, as you get a longer run time out of one ego battery than you do compared to one Kr808d-1 and you also have a greater ohm range you can use with an ego. You shouldn't go lower than 2.5ohms on a slim ecig, it's recommended to use batteries rated 650mah or over for low resistance heating elements.

When it comes to a Kr808d-1 vs any other 3.7v mod or ecig, it depends on the user of whether form factor is more important or if they're ok with 2.5ohm cartomisers or would prefer to use lower resistance and you're not ok to charge slims more often. Though, 420mah "slim" ecigs exist. I have a pair of 320mAh volt batteries which I prefer to take over one ego battery as they're slimmer and I get the same sort of run time between them at a higher voltage, with two flavours to rotate.

I have a few Kr808d-1's and a few slim 510s. The kr808d-1 performs better than the 510 as it's 3.6v instead of 3.2v with a higher mah rating so there's a bit of a better hit and runtime and I'd say the 808 cartos are better than the 510 ones (personal preference).

So really, you can get a better or equal performance out of a slim ecig but not if you want to go low resistance vaping. If you're happy with the kr808d-1, then that's cool too :) you've got a higher voltage unit than an ego.

I agree that it really depends on what the user wants and needs out of his/her pv. I don't believe in a "one size fits all" when it comes to a pv. However, the limitations of each should be considered, and I think that is important. I started off with a Volt and still have it, although I am exploring other options. Good luck with whatever you choose! :)

There is nothing incorrect in my post. The Volt may be the best of the mini-battery types and work well for a light smoker, but it cannot match the performance of the models I suggested with 1000+ mAh batteries, period. I go with the better averages for vaping success. And those averages, based on the thousands of posts on this and other vaping forums, clearly shows that better battery models out-perform any mini-battery models. Warmer vapor, more consistent, much larger range of cartos/attys you can use and MUCH longer vaping time on a charge. You may want to waste some noobs money by having them buy multiple models to finally reach a more effective model, but I don't.

Very few new people are going to understand all of this. How about simplifing it: mini-battery models: weaker batteries that last a much shorter time in comparison to 1000 mAh batteries, requiring the purchase of many more batteries and constant changing of batteries, (100 mAh = about one hour of light vaping); many more restrictions in the attys/cartos you can use, limiting the users ability to find what works best for them; on the "so-called" plus side, looks like you are still smoking so people can believe you still have the nasty habit. None of these restrictions apply to a 1000+ mAh model and no one will think you still smoke and based on the 1000's of comments from others on this forum, you will be looked at in a more positive light because no one thinks you still smoke. And the uneducated public will clearly start to recognize the differences between vaping and smoking.

It is better to look like you're smoking rather then puffing a X pipe in some instances. Especially in other countries where e-cigs aren't as well known. I discretely use my ego in public, I'd never want to take out my lavatube to risk getting stopped by cops who think I'm going to blow something up lol. If I had a volt or mini style I'd rather take it out. I've only tried volts and used them for a week, but I'd rather have the option to not look like a druggy. I also don't think the community will look down on someone for using an analog style PV. The point is to be healthy and stop the cancer sticks, not to look superior to smokers.

Mah rating isn't the be all and end all. A pair of volts and a pcc will be a longer run time than a pair of egos. The newer Kr808d-1 models are 3.6v which is on par with the other 3.7v batteries.

You pretty much agree though, in that slims are ok to use unless you want low resistance or want a much longer run time.

I've been stopped by the police when I used my egos, never with my volts. There's a lot of threads where people have been stopped by the police for using a mod. I don't know about the usa either but in the UK, everyone smokes and you aren't an outcast for smoking. It's acceptable to smoke but it's not acceptable to use a metal pipe. I feel much comfier using something that looks like a cigarette and has the same output as many standard fat batteries.

We're never going to see eye to eye on this. I see your point, greater mah batteries have more options but there are slim ecigs worth having if you prefer form over function and that is a personal choice. If someone wants a cig lookalike that's up to them really and it's not always terrible to have a slim if you get a decent one.

I too got my setup from VaporNine but I got the Apex because it has the 510 threading. I wasn't totally pleased with the batteries that came with the kit so ordered some 78mm and am pleased with them. I haven't noticed a problem with the cut off but I do take short quick puffs. Actually about 3 quick ones each time. Might want to try that and see if that will take care of the shut-off problem.

...luckily for myself, I skipped the first two fairly ineffective steps...the gas station ecig and the 808s...I started with the Rivas and still use them but, got tired of going thru 3 batts per day...went to the E-Power and was MUCH happier and actually, got more positive comments and discussions with it from the general public than, I did with the Riva...recently, I was gifted with an Evercool box mod...GREAT FANTASTIC unit...and I find myself using the E-Power...while I really liked dccs at 5v, they drink juice like a water thru a hose so, everyone's taste is different...the bottom line is, I have seen a kazillion folks here, wishing, they had started with a more powerful PV, but, I have NEVER seen anyone, who started with an Ego/Riva/Kgo/E-Power wishing they had started with an 808...
I try to point out options to folks BUT, do my best to steer the average newbie away from ciggy sized units(even egos...especially the "T"models) based on what I have read and seen here...I never try to push only one type of unit at them unless they specifically ask(sometimes between the lines)...most folks are gonna do what they are gonna do, no matter what any of us say...apples or oranges anyone???????
madjack:2cool:

p.s. the funny thing is(to me) WV2WIN and myself had these same arguments/discussions when I was a stone cold newbie and lately, I have come around to his point of view...ain't life amazing............mj

That's a bunch of bigoted BS about looking like you are a "druggy". Get a clue. I am in and out of court houses every week. I use and show my variable wattage Darwin to more shrieffs and police than any other single group. Have also passed out more educational cards on vaping to this group and helped a number of them transition to vaping. They neither have the time nor inclination to bother with someone vaping and the vast majority are well aware of vaping and know it has nothing to do with drugs.

And instead of hiding or pretending to smoke like you, I and many of us vape openly with our modified PV's and use it as an opportunity to educate the uninformed. And we receive far more positive feedback when we don't look or act like we are smoking or hiding something.

I wouldn't want to pay the $15 each for all the mini batteries I would have to have to vape the 12 hours a day I am away from the house. The model I use gives me 21 hours on a charge so I don't have to carry any batteries.

The UK must have the worst police in the world if they are so ill informed about vaping and have nothing better to do than harrass citizens. It's not that way over here. But we are in agreement that the mini battery models are definitely for people who prefer "form" over "performance" and those who are overly afraid of what people think of them. I have recommended the Volt to a few you stated they are light or social smokers.
