I was hoping someone could explain why my avatar doesn't show on my posts....or does it just not show to me but everyone else can see it? Not a real big deal, but I didn't put it there to be invisible.

Another newbie question. I've been thinking if I kept reading I would figure out what a mechanical mod is, or run across the info somewhere. I'm sure it's in the posts somewhere, but I haven't found it so I'll just ask. I thought all these vaporizers used batteries and heating coils - in other words electronic. I don't quite get how one can be mechanical. Can someone clear this up for me? Thanks! I'm having a great time learning about this very interesting new field!

Hi - I don't see an avatar picture.

As I understand it, a mechanical mod doesn't have a fancy interface - it's very basic electronics

You have a Yoda photo as your profile picture. If you want that as your avatar, go to Settings, and on the left side click on Edit Avatar, and upload it there, and it will show up on your posts.

Mechanical mods don't have wires; just a battery in a tube (typically) that connects between a switch & a cap. The switch makes the connection and fires the atty/carto/clearo. Thus, a mechanical operation.

Hope this helps! :)

Sorry. Scratch the diagram I posted. I have more to learn.

Hi Dave, I'll try to illuminate your second question.

The mech mods are simply a very simple electrical principal. You pass voltage through a heating element so the heating element will heat up. Same principal as your electric kettle.

So mech mods have the following basic components to work:
- Battery as the power source
- a switch to complete the circuit
- a heating element which kanthal wires are usually used
- a wick which the juice is soaked in and heated up by the heating element

It's all just a matter of completing the circuit, and that's the switch responsibility.
Let me know which area you're interested in and I'll try to explain further. :)
