I've only used tanks with prebuilt coils like the smok baby beast, aspire cleito, horizon tech arctic, and kanger topbox nano
Alrighty, then... subohm tanks... you can get close to the same production as the Toptank or Arctic... In the Avocado (22?) I prefer a single coil with the single coil adapter. Makes it easier to fill. I also like 24 AWG NiChrome80 or Kanthal A1. I would build a 7 wrap, 2.5 mm NiCr80 or 6 wrap KA1. Either build will bring you into the .4 range.

It's a different ball o wax altogether if you have the Avocado 24...

Further, the 22 really shines when you start using Claptons, but, one step at a time, right...

Even easier as now there's no worries about filling.

Dual coil 24 AWG NiCr80, 2.4 mm, 9 wrap will bring you in around .24 ohms. A 24 AWG KA1 dual 2.4 mm, 7 wrap will get you to about the same spot.

When wicking, make sure the coils are filled, but not packed. The wick ahould move with some resistance, but not distort the coils. The tails of the wick only need to be long enough to dip into the tank section. They do not need to reach the bottom.

Ive got an Avocado24 in the mail! Looking forward to trying it out!

Its got a really easy build deck for dual coils and that can increase your surface area and reduce your resistance. I would suggest 8 wraps of 26AWG around a 3/32" drillbit (x2) for a .5ohm dual coil build.

Some things to remember if you do decide to go with a dual build, the coils need to be a mirror image of each other, same size, same guage, same leg length(distance to the posts), etc.

Also, I would recommend brushing up on Ohms Law and Battery Safety before starting to build. Maybe check out these blogs:

Actually the coils in a multi coil build do NOT need to be identicle. Same ohm rate yes. But you can stagger the build resulting in a multi heat ranged or staged build. Electrically they should match but physical match is not always required.

Newbies should probably not play with staged builds... but it is possible and very functional.

I realise staggered coils is an option but I don't mention it when talking to someone who is just learning. I prefer to get people just starting out to learn the basics and fundamentals before they start trying to get fancy. If you can learn from the beginning to make mirror image coils then you've got the proper foundation to move on to more challenging builds.

I don't think newbies should build or vape Sub ohm........ doesn't mean I tell them they can't build below 1ohm.... you gave an absolute statement for something that is NOT absolute.

I just pointed out a possibility to consider.

Yes there are hard and fixed rules for being safe....there are many that are really guidelines... there is also a big difference between Can not and not yet.... one the past the other the future.

Alright, I wasn't expecting to have to explain myself this much but here goes...

My understanding of staged coils is that "coil a" is interwoven somehow with "coil b". This to me does not constitute a dual coil setup, rather I view the entire thing as a single staged coil. If you were to put the same thing on 2 sides of a dual coil deck then (IMO) they would ABSOLUTELY need to be identical. I have yet to see a setup with dual staged coils(as I would call them based on my explanation) where they were not mirror images of each other.

If I am incorrect on my understanding and you can have 2 sides of a dual coil deck not looking the exact same and firing the exact same way then I'm sorry and I will stand corrected.

I do think that my statement was fine as is because we are talking about a single wire wrap to make coil 1 and the same thing to make coil #2. If they are not identical then they won't fire together and produce the best possible vape for that type of dual coil build.

I mean not to argue or cause any sort of conflict. I make my comments based on my understanding of the topic at hand. This thread had nothing to do with staggered coils and so I was commenting on how to properly build a simple dual coil setup.

Cheers!:toast:

That's not really applicable with regulated mods though, particularly when using lower resistance wire for temp control. It's pretty much impossible to build above 1Ω coils with ni200, and very difficult to achieve with titanium and even ss (if one wants to have a coil that functions well at reasonable power settings, with common gauge wire).

But it's easy to build above 1 ohm for TC using Stainless wire. Biggest issue here is most TC mods are setup to TC at lower ohms. Electrical metalugical and physics theory is the same in vaping as it is anywhere else these things apply.

having nine lives... is not why there is more than one way to skin a cat.
