for months I have been saying that a regular size coil. 3 or 4 wraps, wins over a micro coil. I have tried micros over and over and every time just a simple coils wins...

I fully understand there are personal likes and dislikes, it's just nice to finally see some seeing my personal take on coils.

Thank You Lord,,,,I'm not alone on this!!!

Ok, I did 4 wraps 30 gauge wire, silica wick. I get .8 ohms but silica seems to not soak up juice like cotton does. I get a hit or 2 then a NASTY dry hit. What am I doing wrong?

Might be the coils are tight. I had 2mm silica doubled over and 4 wraps around that and I was getting a little over 1 ohms.

I find the hollow Ekowool, which is silica, or the ceramic which is also hollow wick better than the solid silica.

FB, r u experiencing fibers coming off the ReadyXwick? This concerns me, what r your thoughts

Only when I cut it and first insert it, I just blow those away. After. I start vapping no issues. I've had a wick for month with nothing noticeable and only changed it because I got bored with the coil. I also noticed less fraying with ready wick than I did with the other supplier.

I changed it, made a new coil again and put cotton in because those dry hits were HORRIBLE!! When I pulled it out it came out easily but I have a question... was I supposed to double it over then wrap the wire around it? It's HARD to wrap it around it, I actually took a needle thing (yellow) with about an inch of silica wrapped 4 wraps. Silica was NOT doubled over... guess I should watch Rob's video? lol

i havent done a lot of hand rolling wire straight on to silica and i dont know if its just me but when i double the silica it seems to work better , im thinking cus you have a little give between the two... i always strangle a single silica... its a totally dif technique to wrapping up a micro tight on a bit

i have a 0.9ohm 28g 4wrap on doubled 2mm silica.... its giving my squonk finger a big break

i think the way you can describe how to do it is you are kind of placing the wire on the silica instead of pulling it around the silica, is that a good way to describe it? or eg placing tape onto something rather then sticking the end of tape then pulling against that to stick the rest ? haha i dunno

I used 2mm silica, doubled it, and wrapped the wire around it. The wire should be snug, but don't pull it so tight that it chokes the wick. Yes watch Rob's video.

ok I watched it, the only thing different was that his wick looks smaller and he doubled it over. Thankfully the owner of the local vape shop is a friend and said if she had time after she closed the shop she would bring me some ecowool over on her way home. She wasn't there when I went in and her daughter thought all they had was silica and pure cotton that looks like a rope btw.

So I decided to try this. I'm pretty sure I used 30g kanthal and the silica says 1.5 on the bag. I doubled it over did 4 wraps ( this took a few tries and a couple different coil wick combos until I could get it in a chalice) it's vaping really well at 1.4 ohms.
