The only hardware I have is Vapor4life's Vapor King, which I believe is a KR808-1d type battery and I use their blank coolcart cartomizers. If this setup is the problem, could you PM me what you think would be the best equipment for me to buy?

Like FreeFlow (sometimes called; "Herr Flow") my exposure to cartos is limited. I *do* use them but mostly when I can't drip an atomizer, like driving and such.
Malty is a VERY mild flavor, distinct but mild. 'Tis why FreeFlow prefers it with a standard atomizer. Malty and many other flavorings burn up quickly with the extra heat of an LR atomizer. While other flavors sometimes come to life under the higher heat. *Ain't* vaping fun? You never know what you're gonna get. LOL
However, something you mentioned previously tweaked my interest here. Flavor aside, you said you weren't getting much TH with Malty at 24 mgs. That surprises me as I've been able to wean down to 16 mg liquids, Malty included, that provide a very nice TH. I find that atomizers hit harder than cartos. With your KR808 battery, you wouldn't need to buy new "equipment", per se, just an atomizer or two. I don't know who your suppliers are but I noticed you're in NJ. Both Good Prophets and LiteCigusa are in Pa and might suit your needs if you want to try an atomizer. just a thought...
In fact, you could purchase a standard 901 atty and an LR 901 atty for less than $20. I'm pretty sure that those attys will work with your battery. Check with Shawn at Litecig or Rob at GoodProphets if nobody else jumps in here with that info.
