While we're sorta on the subject mfs has coils 50% off prolly ending today. Use code "Halfprice". I have no interstate commerce going on so please don't bash on me for promoting it. I'm working for my friends here on ecf.

Who are 'mfs' ?

Doubt I'd buy anything else from this company but just wondering.

I got into a pack of "good coils" the past couple of days. I've gone over a day on one 2 ohm coil before it finally crept up to 3+ ohms and started tasting burnt. The one I'm vaping today was installed yesterday. It's at 2.6 ohms and still tasting really good this morning. I plan to disassemble it when it's through to see how close the solder joints are the the coil turns.

I still think there's a common fabricator supplying coils or at least providing the design specs to Aspire and Kanger. Both are suffering from short life, breaking legs, and close proximity of the solder joint to the heated coil. It can't just be a coincidence.

FWIW- I have been using the Nautilus since it first came out with no issues at all. I did stock up on coils early on though. I recently got a pack of Nautilus coils from FT and they are as good as my original coils.

I use voltage and not wattage to vape so I would have noticed any issues. It has to be the newer batches.

I agree that the problem started late last year or sometime in the early spring. My Vendor ordered in huge quantities to get a large discount months ago and got stuck with a bad shipment that Kanger and Aspire will only agree to make good if they were purchased in May of this year.

Since there are no date codes I've found on the packages I think that's kind of cheap for the manufacturer to decline replacements or some sort of remedy.

Agreed. It is sad that they are able to get away with this.

I just picked up a VapeOnly Davide BDC.
It's the new 2014 design without the white plastic washer in it.
It came with a 2.2ohm head in it and a spare 1.8ohm.
The 2.2 ohm head immediately had a burnt flavor to it, to the point that I tossed it out.
I replaced it with a 1.8ohm and it's now working fantastic.
I'm using 1.6 ohm aspires in my other devices with no issues.
This makes me curious - are the 2.2hom heads giving anyone else problems?

I had another poor Vaping experience with a Kanger BDC. It appears like the legs are wrapped around the Kanthal and soldered. The solder joints are failing. I have included an image, as you can see, the bigger the blob the better the job- well, not working well for me.

Bump - Im having a similar issue with my new Nautilus. My first coil from the original box was bad from the start...only gave me 5-10 good drags, wasn't wicking properly...and was reading at 2.1ohms....I've been reading and trying a bunch of things to get it to work (priming coil, letting sit, flipping upside down and back upright really fast...ect..., but the top wick eventually burnt pretty good...So I swapped in the 1.8ohm coil, which is wicking a little better but Im not getting much flavor...I picked up a pack of 1.8ohm coils from my local B&M today for $20 ...So hopefully I got a good pack... Best of luck to all. I'm just glad Im not the only one having these ....ty problems...very frustrating indeed...

Yeah, these coils could be great but unfortunately there are more bad than good in the replacement packs. I'm going to email them to see if I can get the 30-40 I got from a co-op replaced somehow...

I stopped wasting my money on replacement heads and started building my own coils in my authentic Russian 91%.

Don't know if has been said but to fix the issue with poor wicking I took a carto punch and punched an extra hole in the atty head this has not only worked great but also fixed heads that I thought were bad. I have had no issues after doing this so it might be worth a try.

I noticed earlier today that if the wick isn't kinda snug in the coil you'll have taste issues. I took my tank back apart and replaced the wick so it was kinda snug, and the flavor was much better. So make sure your wick isn't too loose.

And here I was thinking I'd come up with a solution all by myself :)

I'm now using this same technique with fantastic results, I was so impressed with the results I did a video about it...

Thank you so much for this post and video!!!! I love my Nautilus and how it looks but I am so disappointed in the coils. I just went and ordered the Kir Fanis carto punch so I can do this with my replacement heads. I really hope this is the ticket!!!

I just got this thing and I've noticed that when it works it's amazing . It just hardly ever works. I went through 5 coils in a week. I was on my last coil and everything was fine. I went to go refill the tank and now it tastes horrible. I was wondering if anybody has any ideas. What would make it go from working perfectly fine to tasting gross when all I did was refill the juice. Also does anybody know where to get the new coils ? Or what vendor has coils that actually work ? Thanks in advance everybody.

I posted in another topic about bad Aspire heads. Basically what I think it is, is the inconsistency of the coil wraps. If you look into the head at the way the coil is wrapped, on most of the heads you get they aren't tight at all. Most wraps have pretty big spaces in between them causing hot spots. It's not so much bad design as it is bad execution. If you rebuild them, or simply just tighten the coils up, the Aspire heads are pretty decent. Nothing special but decent.
