Because of the issues that so many are having with these cartos, I have yet to even open any of the 15 that I purchased last month. They are still in their 5 count boxes and I am, in all honesty, very leery of using a single one of them. I have not asked that the vendor take them back, but I do not believe that they would - even with all of the complaints that I know they must be getting due to the problems with these carts. I did send the vendor an e-mail and included a link to this thread and asked if any of those that I purchased were part and parcel of the 'bad ones', but I did not receive a response from them at all. That was a week ago.

You are so right about the rules, regs., taxes, etc., Bmays. They would be much more expensive. Like you mention, rebuild-able attys are catching on.... I'm not familiar enough with them to know where they all are made, but hoping some are made in the US. I do know they can be quite pricey. But thank Goodness for American ingenuity. Let's hope someone starts to fiddle with the idea of cartos and what can be done with them. Maybe there will be a rebuild-able carto??? Who knows. I just feel that the pressure is building for change because people are getting tired of being ripped off due to poor quality and no recourse.
Not using attys, I can not say much other than it's great that there are now ones that can be "serviced" when needed. Gosh, maybe by a miracle our govt. will even let a fledgling industry alone and other devices will be able to be made without massive intervention and regulation. Probably a pipe dream, but I like to dream.....lol.

I've only been vaping for 2 weeks, so keep that in mind, but I'm actually having the exact opposite experience from what I'm reading here. I just tried the Smoktech XL dual coil LR for the first time today and I'm getting great results. Much better than the Boge LR I've been using til now. The 2 juices I've been using are Boba's and BWB Casablanca, and both work great in the Smoktech, whereas in the Boges the Casablanca seemed to burn out the carto (actually turn the filler bark brown in one spot) and give a burnt taste, and the Boba's never seemed to seep into the filler properly and always gave a dry taste. Maybe I was lucky and got an old batch of Smoktechs, but now I'm worried I won't be able to repeat my new found carto success.

Was about to buy some more Resurrectors but what saved me is that CCV didn't have any juices I wanted.
Made myself go to ONE site for ONE purchase instead of multiple sites for different things - which I find rather annoying. Ended up w/ an order of juices and Boges which to me, were always secondary to the Res's anyway. Still got some Res's left, including the ones designed for tanks and none of them have failed me. Not one. :)
First batch of Boges that I got about 2mths back, only 2 out of 5 worked.

Using regular ones (no tank) and working fine.

Please understand...I'm not throwing rocks... Just making a statement. You say "working fine" yet your join date is April 2012. Welcome to ECF by the way. However, I believe the main concern is that folks that have used these for some time have noticed a major difference in overall performance as to how they once were. Thats not to say that some folks may still use them and find no issue at all. Just that there seems to be a change. Happy Vaping. :vapor:

Exactly this. I've been using duals for nearly a year (June/10) and can say there is definitely a major change for the much worse. The resurrectors I got were all burnt-tasting, and the DCT cartos I bought (from two subsequent batches now) have all lasted 3 days at most until the draw tightens up to intolerable levels using the same juices in a tank that would last me a week on the earlier good batches.

There is definitely something wrong with the latest batches, and it has completely turned me off of SmokTech cartos.

No offense taken ;) I actually prefaced my other post in this thread ( a few posts back) with the information that I've only been vaping for 2 weeks and to keep that in mind. That said, I am not getting any chemical taste like the OP is, or any burnt taste, or cartos burning out like others have stated.

I think it is possible that chinsk may be onto something in differentiating between tank cartos and regular cartos in trying to pinpoint the problem, and just wanted to contribute my results to his data.

Correct, I was just curious if its the tank or non tank versions that appear to be affected. I have only been using smoktech tank cartos for about 2 months, so I do not have a very long period of time to compare to. However, in those two months, the only issues I have experienced are insta-burning cartos, and some goofy resistance changes (both way too high, and way too low). In terms of taste and performance change I have no base of comparison. I have experienced no chemical taste unless I am referring to the taste created by the insta-burnt scenario. On some cartos the draw does get stiff at times, but I have learned to correct this with a safety pin down the center of the hole. Based on some descriptions i have read in this thread, other folks are having a way worse experience with these than I am.

So far (rough math) I think I have personally seen about a 20%-25% failure rate. These failures have included:

1) Several "insta-burn" where the carto does not pop and fizz like usual and creates no vapor. Instead a nasty burn taste/smell is created. In this scenario the cartos usually meter out properly. It could theoretically be a matter of incorrect wicking, but I prep all the cartos pretty much identically (fill up filler with several drops, fill up tank and let it "bubble" for several minutes, followed by several hard dry pulls)
2) Incomplete milling on the thread of 1 unit
3) One carto shorting out after initially metering properly, this was not a matter of the inner post touching the threads.
4) One carto increased in resistance after a couple days, 1.7ohm to 4.5ohm

So far I think I have used about 25 or so of these cartomizers over the past couple months.

Theres several SmokeTech cartos in the classies if yall are interested.....:danger:
I wouldn't even do that and I have plenty sitting around! That's not nice :(

Out of curiosity, all of you that are having the astronomically high percentage of duds, are you using the tank cartos or the normal ones?
Normal ones

Note, if you are going to comment on customer service then that changes this to a Review and this thread will be moved to Reviews of Suppliers so the Suppliers can respond....other members will lose access to commenting there.

Keep the topic on the cartomizers and it can stay here.

Thank you
c.

Everyone as a reminder let's be sure to keep this in mind when posting. I would be sad to see it moved.

I'm not trying to pick on you Horton :) but since you're a supplier associate you have to be extra extra careful what you say. Some supplier could come on here, not like what they see, use you as an example and the thread would be closed or removed. I'm not a big football fan  I know I should be. If anyone starts talking hockey it's on.

Keekers...... I understand and no umbrage taken. I hope I have not made any comments that have jeopardized this thread and if I have, my apologies. I almost didn't comment at all on this thread, but since I do / did use the 1.7's, I really wanted to participate. I've tried to be careful how I have worded my posts. Please let me know if you see something I should edit. I do now want to violate any of the forum rules.
I try to follow the Wings down here, but very few games.... and it's so weird to think about hockey down here with the heat. Can you imagine what it must cost to keep the ice in proper shape with the climate down here? Their utility bills must be amazing. Hockey is very popular down here and I see quite a few ice rinks in my travels.
Zeth.... I have no idea about the dual coil cartos. I'm only guessing but if they changed the polyfill on the 1.7's, I would think they would have made the change across the spectrum of their various cartos. Again, just guessing.
