Bad switch on V2.

Crap. Now I have a working adapter, but it seems that my switch is messed up. It only fires about every third time and only if I really REALLY crank it down. Often when it does fire, it seems as if it's only getting a small amount of current.

With the switch disassembled, I can see that it has an area on the ring around the button that has a shiny section, not the matt finish of the rest of the ring. Could this be part of the problem?

Check the top of the aluminum posts -- There may be a little sliver of delrin sitting on top of one Make sure they are clean! Its already happened a couple times!

You mean the two posts inside the switch housing?

Yup!

Very carefully take the switch out of the tube. Pull the button out, and take a look at your 2 contact posts. Make sure both are shiny and there is no *loose* piece of delrin sitting on top of either one. This will break contact and cause you to have to push really really hard to get contact

just checked mine as my switch had to be firmly pushed to work, and sure enough it had a small piece of the delrin there. Switch is much softer now and more vapor to boot.

Good call. There was a very small piece of Delrin on one of the posts. A little spiral shaving that I was able to yank out with tweezers. Now it's firing with a very light touch.

Nice first post Kahuna Delrin is a type of Plastic The center housing is machined out of Delrin, and sometimes, left over little slivers/pieces can end up on the top of the contact posts!!!

I had this problem, but it wasn't loose material over the contact - the battery-side post was somehow eroded on the top. Popping it out and rotating it 180 degrees made it work perfectly.

Well, unfortunately, my switch is still acting flakey. I rotated the posts to see if that would help and had no luck, so something else is going on with this one.

Surf ... Have you adjusted the adapter at all? snug it down, and back it off by a quarter turn.

I don't know if this was the problem on mine but the little rubber gasket behind the metal contact ring was twisted and therefore I think it was pushing the metal ring kind of crooked to the contact points. Straightened it and so far so good. Love this thing btw.

O yeah -- Good call mojo! If the little gasket is spinned, or if you pushed the button real hard and it mushroomed over the lip of the button, it won't work too well! So check that as well Surf!
