Went on a road trip with my new v2. 30 min from home the switch stops working. Had my torch mod with my just in case. and sure enough It was needed.

Still back at home after the trip with all my tools I still cant get the v2 to fire up for more that 2 little tiny puffs of vapor. Tried different atties and batteries. and all the tricks.

twist the contact connectors to the round side.
scrape the contacts clear of residue, (delrin)
I even flipped the metal contact ring over.

I Have had my v2 for just over a week, so no return for refund I think.

any tips from the people that have resurrected their switches?

Ugh:mad:

Well, that suck's...

I am planning on either retuning it. or getting it fixed.

I got a bunch of ps atties from them also, and half of them wont even fire up in the V2. luckily I have other atties that used to work just fine in the v2.

I was happy for about a week with this device. But it needs entirely to much maintenance, and tinkering for it to even be considered in the realm of a pro mod.

The mechanical switch made me buy it, but as far as i can tell its just a gimmick to make the doubters from the v1 switch give it a try.

To bad, for me, I will give them a ticket in the morning, and then ask about a return also. If it does the same thing when I get it back I will have to sell it to a poor v2 noob.
:nah: :nah: :nah:

Oh and also remove the PS sig. I really should have waited on that any way but I was stoked. As well as most everyone getting one.

The #60 o-ring mod has done wonders for both my V2 and Protege. I keep meaning to do it to the V1 (which also has a mechanical switch) but I just haven't dragged it out of the storage bin yet. From what I've gathered in other threads, the two major things that can keep a mechanical switch from working consistently or at all are:

  • Bits of delrin work loose and get in the way of the contact disc
  • The original silicone ring under the contact disc gets warped and prevents consistent contact

I agree the mechanical switches have had some issues that need some tinkering: replacing the silicone with the o-ring, cleaning out the loose delrin, and/or rotating the posts to the round side up for better contact. But I really like them over the tact switches for one simple reason: there's nothing in them to short out and die permanently. That happened to my Protege's original tact switch. It died, and there was no bringing it back. But with the mechanical switches, I'm now confident that I can get it to work if it stopped. I can get my head wrapped around its operation and construction. (And I'm not mechanically inclined at all.)

And, if for some reason I couldn't get it working, I have my backup devices ready and can just send it in. As others said, they have a lifetime warranty.

After weeks of frustration I finally sent my V2 back for repair. None of the "tuning tricks" worked consistently, and finally the thing stopped working totally. At this point I don't know if it's the switch, adapter or some offended diety, but hopefully it can be fixed.

So far none of the recent PV's from PS have matched the performance, versatility and reliability of the Prodigy V1. Only the cosmetics have been improved.

But they keep trying and that's a good thing.

I am just going to wait until they sell a switch that works. I have other PV's and
I am not going to work on that switch again. I did get another switch and it too does not work right. There is a problem with the switch that needs to be fixed. I am using my faithful V1 which always works.

what exactly is the problem with the switch that needs to be fixed?

Have you stopped to inspect anything besides the switch? It could be that you're contact post in the adapter was pressed in too far. In that case just tap it with something to nudge it out a little and it should work fine.

I will give that a try tonight as I have not heard from anyone at ps yet.

Any other thing I should try that is not documented in the trouble shooting?

as simple as the switch is i can see why PS has given it a lifetime warranty
do you have a DMM? its the simplest way to see it you switch it connecting or not
what i can see going wrong is the switch not making contact with the head adapter
the spring at the end cap should insure that the batts connect with the switch
but there can be a gap with the adapter head

Well.. I just became a fan of the "O-ring Nolox Tuneup"

It made my dead as a doornail switch work 90% of the time. and it was completely dead. It wouldn't fire at all.

I have no idea why it quit firing.

I still have till Friday to return it according to casey. But if it works well till then I will just keep it.

Thank you who ever invented this "o-ring nolox tuneup"

Im back vaping my V2..:D
