I apologize for the posting an entire thread for this topic. First I tried to search for this topic, then I thought about sending Baditude a PM (but I'm such a newbie that I couldn't even do that).

I am wondering if any of you prefer one over the other cartotank (XL vs standard).

I have been vaping for about 1 year now. Started out with a regular Volt, moved to a couple of Volt X2's and tried all the cartos and clearos. Finally just did what I should have done long ago and picked up an eGo Twist over the weekend from a local shop. It came with what appears to be a poly tank with an XL sized carto. It has been working great for the past 2 days. The vape is cooler than I am used to. Last night, after reading through many of Baditude's informative posts, I placed an order for an IBTanked 22mm XL complete tank because I figured the cartos will be interchangeable with my current poly(propolyne?) setup. Now, I am second-guessing myself and wondering if I should have order the standard 25mm setup instead.

Reasons:
1. I also ordered an eGo Twist 1000mah, and I am thinking the XL cartotank will just make the whole setup way too long.
2. I am wondering if a shorter cartotank will have better taste and/or slightly warmer vape (this is all just guessing on my part)?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated by this still newbie.

Thank you.

The IBTanked XL will use the same cartos.

Personally I prefer the standard size catro tanks & cartos. I prefer the looks of a standard tank in general and think that I get slightly (negligibly) better performance out of standards all around (wicking, warmth, vapor production, air flow). Enjoy the IBTank, I love mine.

@ thachtoo. You are confused about the IBTanked tank sizes. :)

Tanks come in two lengths, either standard (requires a 35mm cartomizer) or XL length (requires a 45mm cartomizer). The following graphic displays the two tank lengths, and the appropriate cartomizers that each length uses.

The diameter of the tanks vary from 19mm, 22mm, and 25mm. I don't believe you really want to place a 25mm tank on an eGo battery, it would look extremely top-heavy! But if that's what you are looking for...go for it. You most certainly will not be able to stand your eGo up on end without it tipping over easily. The wider tanks are meant for use on larger diameter battery devices such as mods.

The tanks themselves will not vary in the taste of your juices or the quality of the vape. They are only reservoirs for the juice. The device that matters most in flavor and vapor production of juices is the cartomizer.

There is no difference in the flavor/vapor production between a short or long cartomizer. One just hold more juice than the other.

There may be minor differences between cartomizer brands. Users may prefer one brand over another based on experience, and differences are probably due to differences in the polyfill material used:

Smoktech uses a less dense polyfill material. Easier to fill and wick, but may be more prone to flood. A good carto to try if you experience issues with dry hits with your current carto.

Boge uses a denser polyfill material. A little longer to fill, possibly slower to wick, but less likely to flood. A good carto to try if you experience frequent flooding issues with your current carto.

Personally, I prefer using Ikenvape cartomizers. A single vendor sells these; he has them specially made to his specifications by a Chinese manufacturer. This results in better quality control, more consistancy carto to carto, better flavor, and longer use. These have become quite popular and unfortunately have led them to be frequently out-of-stock. Ikenvape can not receive enough to keep up with demand.
__

Cartomizers also are available in single coil (one heating element) and dual coil (two heating coils). Preference for one over another is subjective. I do believe that single coils are much more popular despite most DCT tanks coming with dual coils when purchased. I strongly prefer single coil.

Using the proper resistance or ohm rating for the voltage you use is extremely important. LR (low resistance 1.5 -1.9 ohm) will provide a warmer vape for single voltage battery devices that produce 3.7 volts. Some vapors may find it to be too harsh of a vape, and it can also possibly cause some fragile flavors to taste burnt.

Standard resistance (2.0 - 2.4 ohm) will provide a cooler vape for single or fixed voltage of 3.7 volts.

High resistance (2.5 - 3.0 ohm) is for variable voltage devices and provide for a nice vape in the entire range of 3.4 - 5 volts.

The above chart is meant to be used as a general guideline, and for single coil juice delivery devices.

Thank you everyone for taking the time. :)

I am just over thinking everything as usual. I really appreciate the feedback. Maybe the overall length of the XL carto as well as cooler vape is negligible and I should just stick with my original order. Not sure IBTanked could cancel it at this point anyhow.

I do understand the difference between carto length and tank diameter now. I guess my query was whether or not the XL would make the 1000mah eGo too lengthy overall, but I can only determine that myself once I receive both the battery and the tank. Right now the 650mah eGo and XL doesn't look too bad. Top-heavy or look like I'm carrying a baton... There's always a trade-off. :)

I use the XL length. I have seven 19mm and five 22mm tanks. The pics below are of the 19mm tanks. I've only had the 22mm tanks about a week so no pics taken yet.

Juice capacity may factor into which length to use:

19mm Standard= 1.5ml
19mm XL = 2ml

22mm Standard = 3ml
22mm XL = 4.5ml

25mm Standard = 5ml
25mm XL = 8ml

The corn dog thing was a small joke and one other important note is that I don't like the shape/dimensions of the larger twists. I like the look and fill of the 650Mah twist or else like to have something with roughly the same proportions. ie I don't like the 900 or 1000 Mah ego twists because they are too tall and skinny but I LOVE the 1300 Mah spinners because while they are taller they are well proportioned IMO. This is all my personal preference, so take everything with a grain of salt and make your own decisions. At any rate, I snapped you a few quick pictures of my standard sized IBTank on various things, all shown with a little cone thread hider.

The Diver by Atmistique is a submersible rebuildable atomizer: http://www.atmistique.gr/en/mods-re...page_images.tpl&product_id=480&category_id=14

You can find some active ECF threads on it.

It's like having the great clean taste of an atomizer in a cartomizer tank and it's rebuildable. It's like the Killer and the Terminator except it has no juice control (it uses the same CE2 ceramics to hold the wick and wire). I've cleaned out my tanks and thrown away the active cartomizers and I just sold my inventory of 26 XL tank cartomizers on the Classifieds because I've switched to the Diver (and a Killer and a Terminator).

I use Xl cartos in all of my standard size tanks. They do stick out about a half an inch above the endcaps but they make refilling SOOOOOO much easier if you have a tank with thick pyrex walls.

All I do to refill is pop the top cap off by rocking it gently with my thumbs and then slide it up the carto until theres enough room to pour right from the bottle. Unscrewing the tank and blowing through it gets rid of any air bubbles. A slim drip tip the same diameter as the carto helps with this as well.

Just be warned that tanks with thinner glass/plastic and/or thinner endcaps can crack from this method.I actually wouldnt recommend doing it with anything but a Phiniac.

Heres a pic of my polished chrome Provari with cobalt Phiniac tank, XL carto and stainless steel drip tip.

I use the little (and very inexpensive) Boge F15 carto tank on my eGos because it's the same diameter as the battery--15mm. I don't much care for the lollipop look of oversized heads on my eGos. Another small tank is the Smoktech DCT--but I recommend using it with single coil cartos.

Anyway, this is my favorite tank for eGos:

BOGE F15 TANK CARTOMIZER 1 ML - $4.00 : VapeLite your source for Boge quality electronic cigarettes, Boge electronic cigarettes

For 4 bucks you get a fully assembled carto tank complete with a laser prepunched LR Boge cartomizer already installed--just fill and vape! I own and use one and I like it a lot. BTW, there is typo on the site--that tank is 2.5ml capacity, not 1 ml.

If you want a glass tank, I'd get a 19mm IBTanked tank that Ocelot recommended above and pick up a 1300 mAh Vision Spinner; the Spinner is 18mm in diameter and will accommodate a 19mm tank much better. It will look great with an eGo sleeve cover. :D

And a video review The reviewer is using a Boge F16 tank--same thing, just bigger--on his ProVari.

Warning--a couple of bad words in the video... Sorry. But it's a good video. :)
