The XL tank is the same as a standard tank, just longer.. Both tanks use the same stainless steel end caps. (mine and his). I read all the posts in this thread about the prepunched holes and self punched. TBH, it makes no difference in our issue. The carto will not fit in the end cap even at the very top. The deformed carto from self punching does not even come into play since it is punched at the bottom. The very top of the carto is still perfectly sound. Additionally, I've tried with a carto that wasn't punched at all just to see if another carto from the same 5pack would fit any better (it didn't).

The OP didn't say where they got the cartos. They are the same brand though. The other common factor is the 19mm tank from IBTanked.

Right, they didn't say, only that they were Boges "from another vendor". But I have seen some recent complaints about Boges again here on ECF. Ocelot finds a thread about Boges not fitting someone's tank and mrgoochio reports the same thing. I just see the possibility of a trend developing here.

The problem might be solved if the OP gets some more Smoktek carto's (the brand that came with the tank) and reports if those work.

My advice guys is check with the tank vendor and see if anyone else may have reported the same issue to them recently. Perhaps it may be the boge carts being slightly off. The vendor may have a solution to your problems tho or could at least offer some assistance as they should be very familiar with the products the sell. I do agree that getting the brand the tank came with and trying them would help to shed some light on what's really at fault here. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

That other thread was started by mrgoochio. I'm thinking it's more likely that the problem is the 19mm end caps.

Wish I knew where I could specifically buy the correct o-rings.. about time to take my tank apart again and its going to be rough

Actually you should have the looser fit O Rings already. IBTanked sends spare O Rings with the kits, and one of the set is a looser fit.

I had this same issue with some Boge carts, and much like you had to use a hammer to lightly tap the cart out. Dropped on the looser fit and fixed the issue.

Yeah they kinda look to be the same size, but one set is a bit looser. As I recall once I took a close look I could see one set was a hair thinner. The other may be tighter. I think OCD has mentioned this in his vendor thread on the forum.

I replaced them then slid the cart with the tool through the caps before assembling, just to test the fit. Worked like a charm on my 19mm tanks. Now on my 25mm I am still getting a real tight fit, need to sort through the O rings tonight and address that issue. Like a doofus though I put all my O Rings in one bag so now I have the 25 and 19 mixed together :p

I also watched a youtube video on how to replace inner rings on tanks, that helped.

Confirmed there are (2) thinner orings included. I installed and now my cartos slip in absolutely no problem.. in fact, maybe a tad bit loose but fluids don't leak and the tank won't slide off with my drip tip installed unless the drip tip falls off, though it seems stable enough unless i pull on it specifically. Thanks for the tip Larzis! Saved me a major headache

YAY Lazrsis! You were a hero here.

Now I get to gloat to my family all day on how I did something right! Heheh.

MrGoochio, it was the same for me where I almost thought it was too loose. Then I remembered a post from Baditude where he said if you let it sit it will tighten up just a bit. Sure enough, after not moving it for an hour or so it tightened up a bit. Glad it worked out for you

It did tighten a bit but I can still easily slide it up and down on my carto. Not a problem though since my tank is supported by my ego cone sleeve on the bottom and the drip tip on the top stays in relatively well. As long as I don't pull it from the tank it shouldn't come apart when I take it out of my pocket. Thanks again

You bet. Yeah I read many a post from Baditude about not picking up by the tank. If you get a chance take a look at his posts and Blog entries here. Tons of good info on Carto Tank setups. O and look for the hot swap (swapping a carto in a full tank) guide The Ocelot put together.

There may be a problem with their o ring sizes. Ordered replacement o rings for the 19mm ss caps and I can't get them in. I get them in about 3/4 of the way around but the last 1/4 just won't go in. After my wife listened to me cussing for about an hour she grabbed the o ring and cap from me and said "I do it". I had to laugh because after about an hour she was .....ing and cussing worse than I was. Think we're about ready to get "TANKED" with them, lol.

They can be tricky, but probably best to post in their thread in suppliers area or maybe send them a note.

Side note, I ordered replacement rings like.... last week? for the 19 and did a test fit. worked fine.
