I use Xl cartos in all of my standard size tanks. They do stick out about a half an inch above the endcaps but they make refilling SOOOOOO much easier if you have a tank with thick pyrex walls.

All I do to refill is pop the top cap off by rocking it gently with my thumbs and then slide it up the carto until theres enough room to pour right from the bottle. Unscrewing the tank and blowing through it gets rid of any air bubbles. A slim drip tip the same diameter as the carto helps with this as well.

Just be warned that tanks with thinner glass/plastic and/or thinner endcaps can crack from this method.I actually wouldnt recommend doing it with anything but a Phiniac.

Thats Kona Velvet Milkshake beside it too Bad :p
Is that a new flavor for you? Hope you like it as much as I. ;)

I cringe  when I read how you fill your cartotank, Zapped. Genererally speaking, removing the top cap to refill a tank results in the carto flooding when replacing the cap. Too much pressure in a small enclosed space all at once with no where else to go...carto floods. I mention it only because at least 3 - 4 times I've helped someone with carto flooding issues only to find out that they were filling their tank with the top cap off.

I guess it just shows that there is no one way that is correct or an only way. If your method works for you, keep at it.

Yes, its a new flavor.Chimney was nice enough to trade it with me for some Christy's Cappucino.

As far as equalizing the air in the tank and flooding.I just blow through the carto into a paper towel really quick. No flooding and doesnt lose prime either.
